Airfare deals are typically only available on limited dates. We recommend you use Google Flights to find dates to fly, then book through an online travel agency, such as Orbitz or Expedia, which allows you to cancel flights without penalty by 11pm Eastern Time within one day of booking. However, if you're using the American Express Platinum Card, you'll need to book directly with the airline or through Amex Travel portal to get 5x MR points. Remember: Fares may disappear quickly, so book right away and take advantage of Orbitz or Expedia's courtesy cancellation if you're unable to get the time away from work or family.

More Black Friday deals mean more cheap airfare for you. Singapore Airlines is offering a pre-Black Friday sale on flights from Los Angeles (LAX) to Tokyo (NRT) from $399 round-trip, and from San Francisco (SFO) to Hong Kong (HKG) from $498 round-trip. To book either, you'll need to follow some detailed steps. First, head to Singapore's website and enter the promo code BLACKFRIDAY.

You'll then be prompted to log into your Singapore KrisFlyer account if you aren't already. You do need to be a KrisFlyer member to take advantage of this sale, but it's free to sign up and once you do, you can get access to these fares immediately.

Once logged in, you'll get a screen where you can choose either "Los Angeles" or "San Francisco" in the "Search Fares deals from" box. The only deal for Los Angeles currently is to Tokyo for $399, and for San Francisco to Hong Kong for $498.

Clicking "Book Now" will bring you to a search engine where the dates valid for this promotion are shown in the calendar in orange. Finally, not every eligible date will have availability, but you can use the "Fare Calendar" to see dates that have seats at the deal price.

In addition to these Singapore Black Friday sales from LAX and SFO, both Delta and All Nippon Airways are offering discounted fares from LAX to Tokyo from $432. To search with carriers other than Singapore on this route, head to Google Flights and search the fare calendar for dates that work for you. Then, click through to book with the carrier of your choice.
