14 Spring Runway Looks With Michelle Obama's Name on Them

Michelle Obama might be a busy woman, but she's definitely got time to shop. In fact, the FLOTUS knows the importance of power dressing. That doesn't just mean she's got the right suits for business affairs or appropriately modest gowns for state dinners. Michelle also dresses based on her location.

When she's in London, she chooses designers like Mary Katrantzou, Preen, and Peter Pilotto, who produce bold prints that also speak to her colorful style. And Michelle's always one to support American designers, especially new artists who show a sign of major talent (we're looking at you, Brandon Maxwell).

That's why we bet Michelle's already eyeing these key pieces from the Spring runways. They're all bright enough to complement Michelle's bubbly personality and sophisticated enough to speak to the nature of her job. Read on to see what you just might find her wearing soon, then check out the looks we chose for Kate Middleton.

Michelle wore this fiery-red asymmetrical gown from the British fashion house for the China state dinner in 2011.

We can definitely see her in an intricately embroidered cap-sleeve design like this, but she'd nix the edgy jewels for hoops and the studded moto boots for sophisticated pumps.

Stella McCartney

Last September, Michelle wore this sleek and sophisticated navy number by Stella McCartney, showing off the design's little twists like an asymmetrical hem and metal closure.

Michelle loves a good shirt dress, and we can imagine her working Stella's latest with a pair of sandals and a weaved bag on vacation with the family.

Gucci

Michelle's appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show marked her first time wearing Gucci. She found the perfect look to match her personality: a three-quarter sleeve printed with words like "Sincerity" and "Honesty."

Marigold is a shade Michelle's worn more than once, and with her love for a one-shoulder or cold-shoulder silhouette, this flouncy design screams her name.

Peter Pilotto

Michelle loves a colorful print, and we were particularly smitten by the one she chose for a Let Girls Learn initiative in Morocco.

Michelle's already mastered a halter-neck silhouette like this one, and we know she'd be attracted to the kitschy-cool quality of Mr. Pilotto's fresh print.

Michelle coordinated with her daughters when she wore this yellow and blue lace number on a trip to London.

We'd dare her to try something of the same color scheme, but in a more striking silhouette. Michelle loves to show off her arms, and this one-shoulder design would definitely do her justice.

Mary Katrantzou

Mary Katrantzou is one of the most recognizable and downright fun British designers — of course the FLOTUS has worn her pieces. She chose this vibrantly printed fit-and-flare while in London last year.

We'd love to see her in a piece with bold long sleeves and a turtleneck. Michelle would likely nix the socks-and-sandals look for a pair of sleek kitten heels, but her dress would do all the talking.

Michelle toured London in this belted dress from Christopher Kane, accessorizing with drop earrings and matching pumps.

Picture her in this exact look, sans elbow-length leather gloves. We think this pink midi, complete with a gauzy overlay, would fit right into the elegant side of Michelle's wardrobe.

Self-Portrait

Michelle's mixed-print, mixed-texture Self-Portrait dress was a major style win for the FLOTUS. While the brand churns out dresses that can veer on the sexy side, Michelle's mesh sleeves were just a tad sheer and way more modern than racy.

We think this tailored minidress brings together just enough trends, from the side ruffle to the off-centered button adornments. Again, it's just the right color.

Red's a power color for the FLOTUS, and we think she could pull off this vacation dress for a trip to Martha's Vineyard or for any casual event with some flashy jewels and a pair of pumps.

Delpozo

Michelle's idea of the perfect Summer dress totally aligns with our own. She chose this Delpozo shirt dress for a visit with Queen Letizia of Spain, showing off its bold side ties.

We'd love to see Michelle in a similar silhouette, but she could pull off a piece with even more color. This floral design would flatter her figure and give her a chance to show off those toned arms.

Brandon Maxwell

Michelle's structured white gown for the recent state dinner made lots of noise. Though it was simple, it was created by Lady Gaga's stylist and go-to designer for red carpet events. Later, Michelle wore a teal piece by Mr. Maxwell for her InStyle cover.

We'd love to see Michelle in a power suit from the designer. Though she's shown off unique black coordinates, she can obviously pull off lighter shades too, and this set would be a fine place to start.

Michelle joined her family in Cuba for a baseball game, wearing this beachy shirtdress from Tory Burch.

She's also worn many a strapless maxi, and we think she'd love the bold florals on this Spring number from Tory.

Naeem Khan

The Cuba state dinner was an important moment for the FLOTUS. We love the vibrant ensemble she selected, created by one of her favorite designers, Naeem Khan.

Michelle chooses Naeem Khan for daytime events and formal dinners. This cap sleeve number would be appropriate for either, and we know the FLOTUS would accessorize it just right.

Narciso Rodriguez

Michelle's a big fan of Narciso Rodriguez's most sleek pieces. She chose this avant-garde, graphic-print dress for the trip to Argentina, already making a splash as soon as she disembarked Air Force One.

We could see her in this slouchy midi from Narciso Rodriguez's newest collection. Its faded pattern, though black and white, is somehow striking, and Michelle might even pair it with her flashy yellow pumps.
