New Browning BXS Polymer-Tipped Copper Shotgun Slugs

At the 2017 SHOT Show Range Day, I got to fire a few rounds of Browning’s new ammo. Most impressive was the BXS 12 gauge shotgun slug because I hit a fairly small steel target with it at 200 yards!

The target was roughly the size of a whitetail deer’s kill zone, and I had no trouble clobbering it. The firearm was a Browning Maxus semi-automatic 12 gauge shotgun with a 22″ rifled barrel. And the target, stand and all, rocked back and forth a time or two when hit.

This is great accuracy from a shotgun slug, no matter how you slice it.

The ammo is brand-new and features a polymer-tipped one-ounce (12 gauge) or 3/4-ounce (20 gauge) solid copper slug in a sabot. The advertised muzzle velocity is 1600 fps, and both gauges come in 2-3/4″ shells.

If you’re a slug hunter who wants to reach out and touch a deer, you owe it to yourself to try this ammo, which should be available at retailers this summer.
