Method 1 of 3:

Making Authentic Green Eggs and Ham

  1. Crack open an egg and hold it over a cup. Pass the yolk back and forth between the two shells. Catch the whites in the cup.
    • You can make two eggs if you are really hungry!
    • Ask an adult to help you with this step.
  2. Leave the yolk in its shell or hold it gently in your hand. You can also put it into a small dish. Add 1 drop of green food coloring to the yolk. Gently spread it across the entire yolk. Don't press too hard, or you will break the yolk.
    • If you are having trouble with this, stir 1 drop of green food coloring into the whites instead. You'll have reverse green eggs and ham.[4]
  3. Set the yolk aside when you are done. If you don't do this, some of the green may get into the whites and ruin the effect. In the book, only the yolks were green. The whites were still white.
    • Skip this step if you added the food coloring to the whites.
  4. Place a pan on the stove. Add 1 teaspoon of cooking oil or butter. Turn the heat up to medium-low and wait for it to get hot. Tilt the pan around so that the entire surface is coated with melted butter or oil.
    • You are ready for the next step when the butter melts or the oil starts to sizzle.
    • Ask an adult to help you for this.
  5. Pour the whites into the saucepan. Cook them until they start to turn white.
  6. Once the egg whites turn white, gently place the yolk on top. Wait a few minutes, then cover the pan with a lid. Let the egg cook for 1 to 2 more minutes before checking on it. You want the whites to be set. The yolk can be as soft or as hard as you want it to be.[5]
  7. Once the egg is done, slide a spatula under it. Lift the spatula up and transfer the egg to a plate.
    • Covering the pan with a lid will help the egg cook faster.
  8. Place a drop of food coloring on a slice of ham. Spread it around with your finger or a basting brush. Flip it over, and coat the back too. Pat any excess dye off with a paper towel.
    • If you want to cook the ham, use Canadian bacon.
  9. You can eat the ham cold, but it will taste much better if it is warm! Place it onto the pan and let it cook until the edges start to turn crispy.
  10. Place the green egg and ham onto a plate. Add some salt and pepper, then dig in!

Method 2 of 3:

Making Scrambled Green Eggs and Ham

  1. Be careful not to get any egg shells into the bowl.
  2. You will need 1 teaspoon of milk and 1 drop of food coloring. Stir everything together until the color is even. You don't want any streaks or swirls.
    • You can also use green food coloring instead to get a brighter shade of green.[6]
  3. Cut 1 to 2 slices of ham into tiny cubes. Something around 1/2-inch (1.27-centimeter) would work the best. Once you have enough to fill 1 tablespoon, add it to the bowl. Stir it in with a rubber spatula.
  4. Place a frying pan on the stove. Add about 1/2 tablespoon of butter or canola oil. Turn the heat up to medium-low. Wait for the butter to melt or the oil to sizzle.
    • Tilt the pan around to spread the melted butter or oil around.
    • Add an adult for help with this step.
  5. Don't stir until the eggs have begun to set, about 2 minutes. Use a spatula to fold the cooked eggs over as they cook. Chop up the eggs with the tip of the spatula.
  6. Use a spatula to scoop everything onto a plate. Serve it with some toast or jelly rolls.

Making Candy Green Eggs and Ham

  1. Get some white chocolate candy melts. Place a few wafers into a microwave-safe bowl. Melt them in the microwave for 30 seconds, then stir them with a spoon. Keep heating them for 30 seconds and stirring until they are completely melted.
  2. Place a piping bag into a cup and fold the edge over the rim. Pour the melted chocolate into the bag. Tie the bag shut. Do not cut the tip off yet.
    • If you don't have a piping bag, use a plastic sandwich bag instead.
  3. You can use any kind you want. If you really want it to look like green eggs and ham, get the sour kind in green. You will need two strips to make one serving of green eggs and ham.
    • If they are more than 2 to 3 inches (5.08 to 7.62 centimeters) long, cut them in half.
  4. Cut the off the tip from the piping bag. Place a drop of melted white chocolate in the middle of one strip. Place the second strip on top to make an X.
  5. You can also use a different type of cookie as well. It needs to be about 1 inch (2.54 centimeters) wide. If you need to, glue the cookie down with another drop of melted chocolate.
  6. This will make the whites of the eggs. Pipe the chocolate around the edges of the cookie first. Next, fill the top of the cookie in with more melted chocolate. Make sure that no cookie is showing.
    • Jiggle the eggs and ham to help make the chocolate spread.
  7. If you can't find a green M&M, you can try using a green Skittle instead. The candy must be green, otherwise you don't have green eggs and ham.
  8. This will take a few minutes. If you can't wait that long, pop it into the fridge or freezer for a couple of minutes.
    • You can use the rest of your ingredients to make more candy green eggs and ham.
