Amref Health Africa is the premier African-led international health development organization headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya. Founded in 1957 as the Flying Doctors of East Africa to bring critical health services to remote communities, Amref Health Africa in the intervening years has broadened its mission to include training of some 500 thousand community health workers and managing the design and implementation of health development projects in more than 30 countries across Africa. With a focus on women and children, Amref Health Africa strives to overcome the most critical health challenges facing the continent: maternal and child health, HIV & TB, malaria, clean water and sanitation and surgical and clinical outreach. Amref Health Africa has offices in Kenya, Ethiopia, South Africa, South Sudan, Senegal, Tanzania and Uganda as well as in Europe and North America. The organization employs over 1,000 people.
Objective
The main purpose of this consultancy is to produce 10 minutes long documentary film which features the project’s achievements and good experiences in 3 project areas (woredas) in Jimma.
Specifically the consultant is expected to:
· Conduct a desk review of relevant documents as provided in order to familiarize with the project issue.
· Meet in person with Amref Health Africa Ethiopia and both zonals and woreda project team as well as communication team for technical advice.
· Produce an elaborate filimimg plan and/or script in close collaboration with Amref Health Africa and Jimma field office M&E and communication team of central office.
· Prepare and share a detailed plan of action with project people and communication team
· Travel to project intervention woredas for filming and interviewing beneficiaries and partners.
· Work with the Amref Health Africa‘s communication and M&E team to ensure Amref Health Africa’s and donor’s brand identity guidelines for logo, language use and related brand identity for comment.
· Organize all the required material and produce the documentary film, share the first draft copy with project team and the communication team.
· Make necessary change after discussing with Amref Health Africa in Ethiopia project team and communication person.
· Produce the final master copy of the documentary on CD, DVD &VCD for approval from Amref Health Africa.
· Use Oromifa languages for narration, with English subtitle.
· Ensure that the shooting of the documentation film is of broadcast standard for use on website, TV transmission, and external as well as internal dissemination.
· Deliver the material in time as discussed and agreed with Amref Health Africca in Ethiopia.
The potential consultancy firm is required to meet the following minimum requirements in order to qualify for the submission of proposal.
§ Proven advanced skill in film making, producing documentaries, communication and media, and related areas.
§ Professional experience in interviewing community members, development partners and producing documentary for Oromifa language speaking audience
§ Advance knowledge of Ethiopian health system, in particular knowledge about Ethiopia family planning strategies and programs
§ Ability to deliver on time (three weeks after contract agreement is signed)
§ Demonstrable professional writing and narrative skill
· Registered and renewed license for the fiscal year
