No one wants to admit it, for fear of being branded weird, or worse, unpatriotic. But growing numbers in Westminster, and many more beyond, harbour a dark secret that they cannot speak aloud.
In quiet corners of parliament, over lunch in smart restaurants and in niche WhatsApp groups, cabinet ministers, MPs, spin doctors and journalists seek out like-minded types to confess: Brexit is boring.
I’m ashamed to say I am one of them. I am not following what the foreign minister of Latdova is tweeting. No one has ever said: “Shush! John Redwood is on TV!”
Of course Brexit is massively important, politically, economically and culturally, but it is slow and bureaucratic. Yet every development is treated with the same explosive excitement as that June
