No one wants to admit it, for fear of being branded weird, or worse, unpatriotic. But growing numbers in Westminster, and many more beyond, harbour a dark secret that they cannot speak aloud.

In quiet corners of parliament, over lunch in smart restaurants and in niche WhatsApp groups, cabinet ministers, MPs, spin doctors and journalists seek out like-minded types to confess: Brexit is boring.
