So, yesterday I posted:
When we arrived at the house we’re renting in the Santa Cruz area, we found a great view of the bay/ocean… and a decor that defies description. I mean, the house has clearly never been substantially redecorated since the early 1960s, but I feel that this statement does not fully convey the gravity of the situation. I will take some photos to post tomorrow.
It’s not so much that it hasn’t been “redecorated” in the sense that everything is original… it’s just… whoever applied new wallpaper clearly felt committed to preserving the nostalgic feel… and damn the consequences!
The top two photos are both in “my” bedroom. I really like the sunflower wallpaper, but it’s only on part of two walls; the rest of the room is papered in the other yellow pattern. At least it’s yellow!
The second row shows the incredibly loud wallpaper and clashing yellow shag carpet in the master bedroom, plus the (same) wallpaper with clashing tile in the master bathroom. The lamps and headboard in that room echo the shapes in the design on the wallpaper.
The third row is the wallpaper from another bedroom and its bathroom, complete with clashing tile.
The fourth row is the fourth upstairs bedroom, wallpaper (more yellow!) and the bathroom I share with that bedroom (also yellow… with sparkly gold wallpaper).
More vacation rental decor photos to come!
