VIRAL: Louise's picture has over 8,500 likes

In the age of Instagram, we are constantly comparing ourselves to the seemingly perfect lives that influencers share online.

This can lead to low self-esteem and a recent study even revealed that following curvier women on Instagram can make you feel better about yourself.

However, one fitness blogger has posted a composite photo of herself showing that what we see on our feeds isn’t as perfect as we think.

Louise Aubrey, who posts under the handle @mybetter_self, has over 50,000 followers on the social media platform.

The student at SciencesPo Paris and UC Berkeley posted a side-by-side comparison shot to show fans what she really sees when she looks at a photo of herself versus what the public sees.

The photo on the left, what "we see", has arrows pointing to Louise’s body saying: “Big smile, long legs, strong butt.”

COMPARISON: We need to view ourselves through other's eyes

Whiel the other photo, what "she sees", points out her perceived flaws including: “Big nose, back fat, cellulite.”

She captioned the photo: “As much as I preach self love and truly made some progress accepting myself, there is something I really struggle with: pictures.

“Whenever I see a picture of me, the first things which catches my eyes are my flaws. I always see what is wrong.”

Louise said when she looks at photos of other people she doesn’t look at their "flaws" but rather their assets – so why doesn’t she do the same with herself?

“We really need to learn not to be so harsh on ourselves. It is not healthy,” Louise added.

The post has since been liked over 8,500 times and has garnered 240 comments with users saying the same thing.

One user, @_elena_victoria, said: “Love this post! I do the same thing.

"I hate looking back at pictures and thinking ‘wow I looked great’ and then remembering what I thought of the picture when I first saw it.”
