A CHARITY Zumbathon held at Bournville College last week raised more than £180 for Ladies Fighting Breast Cancer, writes Tom Banner.

Around 50 people took part in two full hours of Zumba hosted by Ellie Hooper, 17, from Lickey End.

Ellie is a trained Zumba instructor after first taking up the activity at the age of 11.

Ellie, who takes classes in both Lickey End and Rubery, decided along with a few of her friends from the National Citizenship Scheme to raise funds for the cause and felt a Zumbathon would be the best way to do it.

The 17-year-old from Lickey End hopes that this event will be a springboard for similar events to take place in the future.

Ellie’s classes take place from 7pm to 8pm on Mondays at Lickey End Social Club and between 7pm and 8pm on Thursdays at Beacon Church Centre, Whetty Lane, Rubery.

Sessions are £4 each and all fitness levels are welcome.

Call Ellie on 07952 296352 or search for ‘Zumba with Ellie’ on Facebook for more information.
