Neighbor bought a 1992 Link-Belt 2300D Excavator. Last owner disconnected computer completely and installed mechanical oil pressure gauge and mechanical water temperature gauge for engine. It has not a lot of digging power and will only crawl slowly. He has complete service manual for it and is wondering if he can turn up the hydraulic pressure. He asked me if I could come look at machine and manual since I more of a mechanic than he is. I just asked him to see if the hydraulic filters have been changed or look like they have been changed. I'm trying to do a bit of internet research before I head over there. I have a rpm tool and I know there are procedures to check oil pressure in specific spots for hydraulic systems. I actually think maybe he has a hard time reading so he just needs a person to read and explain the manual.

I don't know that I've ever seen a 2300D Link-Belt. Used to be a lot of 4300 machines around.

The gauge panels on those older units had a lot of problems with grounding and resistance and most people just put in manual gauges. Serial number and photos of the machine would be a big help.

If you need any help figuring it out let me know, I drive through the Grove quite regular in my service rig.

Yah, I could not find photos of a 2300D so maybe he meant a 4300D John C. I actually asked him to double check. Thank you

Turned out it was a 2700. We just used a rpm tool to figure our rpm. It has the 4 cylinder Isuzu diesel put in by last owner. He figured 2300 rpm was a good rpm for hydraulics to function faster.
