Ryan Reynolds is the man. Fact. And with that, he understands social media and how to stoke fan (nerd) frenzy.
So either he dropped a hint about a major Deadpool 2 casting or he is just trolling us. Either way, we at Heat Vision approve.
Reynolds posted a photo on Instagram on Tuesday (captioned “Wolvie. Bond. Wade”) of himself, Hugh Jackman and none other than James Bond himself, Pierce Brosnan, hanging out, doing the ole “hear no evil, speak no evil, see no evil” pose.
This led a lot of fans to jump to the conclusion that Brosnan may be playing the time-traveling badass Cable in the next Deadpool installment.
Still, it should be noted that a second picture posted to Reynold’s Facebook page, showing the three men laughing like they just played a gag on someone, can’t be overlooked.
Reynolds, or rather his alter ego, Deadpool, told fans in the post-credits scene that Cable would appear in the sequel to the 2016 film, which was a huge hit with critics and scored big time at the box office.
Deadpool is Reynold’s baby and there is no way he would allow any character to be cast in the next film who wasn’t perfect.
In fact, there was some speculation that Tim Miller, director of the first film, parted ways with the sequel’s project over “creative differences” with Reynolds. David Leitch has since stepped in to direct.
Brosnan certainly has the résumé to play such a character. But, for now, it’s all just fun fan speculation.
