Ryan Reynolds Eager for Deadpool and Wolverine Team-Up Movie

Last week, word broke about a potential cameo by Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool in the upcoming third Wolverine movie, Logan, though Reynolds and director James Mangold were quick to squash the report. Since then, Reynolds had an extensive interview with Variety about playing the Merc with a Mouth wherein he reiterated he would like to continue playing the character for years to come.

“I would love to play Deadpool for as long as they would let me play Deadpool,” Reynolds said. “We have outlines and stories for a number of different films.”

The outlet revealed that one of Reynolds’ ideas is for Deadpool and Wolverine to team up, which came as a surprise to Hugh Jackman, who has previously reiterated that Logan is his last time playing the character.

“I’m hesitating,” Jackman tells the outlet. “Because I could totally see how that’s the perfect fit. But the timing may
be wrong.”

“I have no
idea if I can change his mind,” Reynolds adds.
“It’s the audience: I would exclusively exploit that relationship to get Hugh back for another one.”

In the meantime, Deadpool 2 is set to film this year for a 2018 release with what Reynolds says “is not going to be phenomenally bigger (budget).” Deadpool 2 will be directed by David Leitch from a screenplay by the returning “real heroes here,” screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Reynolds is again serving as a producer on Deadpool 2 alongside X-Men franchise caretakers Simon Kinberg and Lauren Shuler Donner.

An official release date has not been set for the film, though Fox has previously put placement release dates for their Marvel films on March 2, 2018, June 29, 2018, and November 2, 2018.
