So I have noticed in the past year that people tend to get every new mod or atty as soon as it is released. Is it weird that I would much rather get a mod that has been out for almost a year. Because that gives enough time for the company to fix any bugs or problems. I just don't see the point of spending all that money on something brand new with a risk of being a problem with it. It may just be me, but I just wanted to get some opinions on the matter. Its not a huge deal, but just wanted to see if i'm overthinking it or not.

I just get the ones I like. I haven't bought a new on in a while (stocked up over a year ago). To me and the way I vape I don't need all the fancy bells and whistles of some mods. I like it simple and if I like something that's a few years older I buy it. I have no preference, I just buy what I like.

I've been behind the times since I was a teenager, and that was a long time ago. I'm always buying vape gear that's about to be discontinued.

Hey, about 5 years ago I downloaded some software and converted all my LP's to those new-fangled CD's. It's worth keeping up to date.

All my vaping gear is old. Most of it isn't sold any more. I can see how trying out new gear would be fun. I got a thrill out of that when I first vaped. Fairly soon I found stuff I liked and got lots of it. No urge to try new gear now.

But everyone enjoys what they enjoy. There's no right way to do it.

I feel the same as many of you.

I do have a collection of vape gear is "outdated" "old tech" discontinued and useless by todays standards.

I have basically the same gear I had 4 years ago, but have bought newer old stuff. I buy and use what I like for whatever reason, but its what I like.

I keep saying, no more buying, but with everyone dumping their old gear, it gives me the opportunity to get things that I never thought I could ever have. I love mechs, so I justify the purchases by saying " At least a mech is forever"

Just enjoy

Nope. A lot of people do it. The only reason to buy bleeding edge is it has a never before seen feature you always wanted.. like SS TC, or clamp RDA connectors, or 3D airflow, etc.. the current one is regulated squonk I think. And as usual the ones out first are terrible.

I think it's perfectly fine to buy older equipment and there are many folks doing it. I too like to get at least some reviews on something, before I buy it. I guess the only exception to that would be drop in coil tanks, I really like to get those while I can still get coils, etc., but some manufacturers will use the same coils in many tanks, so that can often work out.

Much of the older stuff is better than a brand new, who knows if it won't blow, up fresh off the assembly mod or a will it leak RTA. I've gotten more selective in buying, but I also bought a lot of stuff in my first 6 months. Now I really think about anything critically, unless it's on a "must have" list, which is really short.

Yeah I do a lot research before investing in anything. Even not vape related products I do a crap ton of research. I just feel like why risk/waste my money on something just to have the shiny brand new preorder things.

Seems that most new mods and attys that people buy these days are cheaper China made stuff that probably only cost 50 bucks for both, so waiting a year for a better deal doesn't make as much sense as maybe higher end stuff. Some hi end stuff is expensive and is definitely worth waiting to buy second hand a year later
