The Sucklord: A Bizarre Artist Who Makes 'Bootleg' Toys

The Sucklord, as he calls himself, is a salty pop artist who lives and works in New York City. In his studio, the "Suckhole," he rips apart action figures and rebuilds them in surprising ways—often with an eye toward the explicit and vulgar. In 2011, the Village Voice called him "the designer-toy world's biggest jerkbag."

"Making bootleg action figures is a lot like sampling in hip hop," he tells filmmaker Joey Garfield in this short documentary, produced by Ghost Robot. "I don't know where this stuff belongs. It's not quite right in a toy store. It doesn't fit in a traditional art gallery either."
