A delicious and healthy snack that can be made very easily. It is also made for Karthigai Deepam.
  • Pre time: 05 mins
  • Cooking time: 12 mins
  • Yields: 15 to 18

Ingredients for making Verkadalai Urundai (Peanut Sweet Balls):

  • Roasted Peanuts / Verkadalai 1 cup ( 200 gms)
  • Jagerry Powdered 1/2 cup and 1 table spoon
  • Green cardamom powder or dry ginger powder 1/2 tea spoon

How to make Verkadalai Urundai (Peanut Sweet Balls)?

Remove the skins of roasted peanuts and keep them aside.
Heat a pan with 100 ml of water and add jagerry powder to it.

Once it melts well, filter the syrup to remove the dirts if any.
Now boil the filtered syrup again in the pan.
Keep a bowl of water aside.
When the syrup starts to boil well and becomes thick take a teaspoon of syrup and drop it in the bowl of water.
If the syrup stays at the bottom firmly without dissolving in water,  collect it and roll it to a ball. It is the right consistency.

Now pour the syrup on the peanuts kept aside and mix well with a ladle.
Grease your palm with ghee or rice flour and make small balls out of it.
The Verkadalai Urundai is ready now.
Note:The quality of the jagerry is very important to get the chewy consistency and good glossy colour.
