Firstly, from a tourist's perspective, this was a fun place to visit and browse such an impressive selection of things while navigating a narrow maze-like walkways. In terms of the things for sale, you could say this is a true flea market and for once, I didn't care that this indoor market didn't have a single food vendor. While I ended up snatching a bargain vintage shirt for $5, I saw everything from furniture and paintings to LPs and rugs. We spent a good 40 minutes both upstairs and downstairs, and would definitely return.
There was parking behind the building but it was limited, and traffic immediately around the market was pretty heavy. We ended up finding street parking a few minutes walk from the market and didn't mind it at all. Although I had enough Canadian cash on me so paid in cash, I recall they accept an electronic payment method whose name I don't remember. I hope the marche stays open for a long time.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Jean Junior L.Huntingdon, QC011Jun 4, 2023

I have a total fondness for rustic antiques. So we were lucky enough to squeezed some time to shop here before trekking up to NY.
Marché aux Puces is off a highway (don't remember) and across a gas station- with parking spaces up front. Place is big with tons of vendors spread out on two floors. On our first trip, bought a Ceramic Milk Container for the backyard, as well as a wooden frame mirror. Second trip, we bought a 24x36" canvas painting mounted on a thick and Natural Pine Frame.
Prices are up there. But man......I haggled with my dear life to get a specific milk container down from $90 to about $80- in Canadian Dollars (which in the end, was a good $60 in US conversion. I'll take it! The other items worked out when I bargained also. Hey...it's all about pleasantries- especially- when you're negotiating! By the way- vendors speak both English and French- so take your pick.
Nah....I'm not an expert haggler nor do I know the ins and outs of what it takes to buy at Antique or Thrift stores. But I do love me an awesome deal. Who the heck doesn't??? But you gotta know how to play their game. Two trips already to this Antique store...... looking forward to a 3rd.Helpful 16Thanks 0Love this 11Oh no 0 - Dec 15, 2015
I came here to check it out after the New York Times ran an article about Montreal and mentioned this place. Give yourself a whole afternoon if you want to come here and check out the myriad of stalls and sellers while you go bargain hunting, vintage hunting or even just browsing.
If you're the kind of person who gets overwhelmed easily and don't know what you're looking for or what you're looking at, don't bother. If on the other hand, you enjoy digging, rummaging and pretending you're on a treasure hunt, if you can spot quality vintage stuff from several feet away, you can name several types of quality vintage brands which have long since disappeared right off the top of your head (i.e FireKing, Jadeite, Descoware, Catherine Holm, Dansk Kobenstyle, Luminarc etc.) then this place is the mother lode for you.
Haggling over prices is encouraged.Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 1 - Dennis S.Palm Springs, United States26441Aug 19, 2019
This is a great antiques and collectibles mall. Having been around the world visiting venues like this, I feel quite qualified to say this is one of the best you'll find. There is something for everyone in this mall. And if you look closely you can get some great buys on quality items. The vendors are friendly, helpful, and willing to bargain. Its a place to go for a fun few hours; you might find that you stay longer than you thought you would. There's a whole lot to see and sort through. Two floors. Large number of vendors. Huge variety. Say Hi to Marcel and check out his mid century furniture; one of the many vendors of quality items at reasonable cost. If antiques and collectibles are your thing, be sure to check out this mall when in Montreal.

This is a series of stalls with junkers selling their junk.
I wouldn't call this place a "tourist trap" as another poster wrote. I wouldn't even call it a place that locals would go. It's on the outskirts of town - the last stop on the train. How would this be a tourist mecca? On a recent Sunday afternoon there were barely any customers anywhere.
It's a great spot to replace that old VHS copy of Speed, or to purchase some dishes for your 1976 Montreal Olympic Themed Wedding.
It's all old stuff - none of the sock / knock off sun glass vendor stuff that litters that landscape now so, hey, you might find something nice. I regret that I couldn't fit a 4 x 4 foot shrine to John Travolta in my bike's front basket.
It can get very depressing as some of these vendors will surely die from old age and boredom in their spaces having not sold a single thing since December 1998 (one decaying man was covered in dust, his only identification being a 1984 Reagan for President pin), but alas this is something to do on a rainy day, or a spot to leave grandma when you can't put up with her shit anymore.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0 - Shirley D.Toronto, ON91256239Apr 13, 2014
OK seriously, this place is a hidden gem. I didn't even realize such an awesome flea market like this exists! What did i end up buying? An old vintage Polly Pocket toy for 5 bucks. Holy wow there was a lot of stuff and cool "junk" that was there. This place is a huge maze, and I felt like the longer I stayed, the longer it would take for me to get outta there. I think I spent 2 hours at this flea market, but it felt like years. (in a good way of course)
There's all sorts of knick knacks here like antiques, vintage toys, comic books, records, figurines, ukelele, decor stuff etc. I spent rummaging through rings at one jewelry kiosque for at least 10 minutes. They didn't have anything that I liked, but it was so fun hunting for something. Honestly this place is worth visiting...but I highly recommend going in the AM because it gets quite overcrowded in the afternoon....making the visit pretty unpleasant. I'd go back, totally. But probably once every 3 months or so just to see "newer" items. I think my favorite part of this flea market are the toys. So nostalgic to see 70s, 80s toys, (they even had an etch a sketch!)
Go go go to this flea market. It is fun, exciting, maze-like, and filled with items you can get for a good price.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ernest S.Ahuntsic-Cartierville, Montreal, QC03Aug 31, 2017
Great place for antique collectors. Also there is a lady there that repairs clothing for next to nothing, and she does great work. If you have a zipper to change or clothes to repair, this is the best place in Montreal and she does almost anything. If you like old stuff, this is the place for you.

Ok, let's be honest: I love this place. It's right up my alley: rickey and twisty and full of old things. I embargoed reviewing this place for a while at a dear friend's request but it's out there now so I'll add my review to the chorus. It's a few blocks from St Michel metro and a bit hidden behind the McDonalds. It is a bit bug infested, and it does feel like the vast majority of the vendors have either figured out that they can sell this stuff for a fair bit of money on the internets, or are looking around at everyone else's prices, shrugging their shoulders and ramping the prices up to be on par. That being said, I didn't have any trouble dickering down to prices I was comfortable with when I tried, and I love love love the vendors her. Sweet old Quebecois folks who all know each other and take care of each other and crack jokes together and are generally genuinely lovely. Will you find a crazy steal here? Maaaybe. But it's nice so go if you promise not to tell...
