Kate Middleton packed a suitcase full of new clothes for the royal trip to Canada, this red dress included. She chose the design for a reception at the Government House, but it's more than just the perfect cocktail number. Kate's off-the-shoulder silhouette, which was created by British label Preen, is the modern version of the Catherine Walker mini Princess Diana wore 21 years ago to a dinner in Argentina.

From its eye-catching neckline to its cherry shade, and the fact that both women accessorized with red shoes and a red clutch, we just can't stop comparing the two looks. While Kate's mother-in-law wore ruby drop earrings, Kate complemented Queen Elizabeth's maple leaf pin with Soru Baroque pearl earrings, along with her sapphire engagement ring.
