Role purpose
Conducts and records results of required physical, chemical, and microbiological tests and analysis on packaging and raw materials, finished and complaint products, environmental and inter-laboratory samples according to standards, guidelines and technical procedures set by Quality Control Department of New Zealand Milk Products Ethiopia Share Co.
Role accountabilities
Policies & Procedures
- Follows all relevant operational procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in an organized, controlled and consistent manner
Equipment Monitoring
- Monitors the physical condition of all Lab apparatuses and equipment
- Conducts scheduled equipment inspection and calibration
- Reports non-conformances to Quality Team Leader/Supervisor to facilitate effective maintenance or rectification of laboratory facilities/equipment
Laboratory Testing
- Collects packaging or raw material samples and conducts required physical, chemical and microbiological tests or analysis.
- Receives in-line samples and conducts required physical, chemical and microbiological tests or analysis.
- Tests parameters may include but not limited into density, net weight, vacuum & leak tests, color, sensory, %moisture, %residual oxygen & %CO2, %Fat, pH, %Acidity, %Salt, microbial load, etc.
- Analyzes results and convey off-specs parameters to production operators/Team leader to rectify troubles in production processes
- Evaluates and assesses finished products prior to release
- Evaluates and reports findings on complaint products
- Prepares and standardizes chemical solutions/reagents use during chemical testing or analysis
- Prepares and standardizes media solutions use in micro tests
- Conducts site audits on GMP and 5S/OE
- Involve in proof reading of packaging materials
Continuous Improvement
- Contributes to the continuous improvement of Laboratory practices, systems, and processes by taking into account Fonterra’s Guidelines, Procedures and Policies, local and other international standards to further improve product’s quality and food safety
Periodical Reports
- Records and submits test’s results on regular basis to keep management informed
Housekeeping
- Ensures workplace are kept clean and tidy to minimize work hazards
- Ensures disposal of wastes (especially microbiological wastes) are done properly as set by SOP
Health, Safety & Environment
- Follows and observes site-wide implemented Health and Safety systems, guidelines and policies
Related Assignments
- Performs other related duties or assignments as directed
- Degree in Chemistry, Food Technology or equivalent .
- Fresh graduates
- Basic report writing in English
