The volunteers were honored during the Ambulance Corps’ Annual Holiday Party this past weekend, according to a statement from the organization.

“These are just a handful of our great members, all of whom have the dedication and passion to make a difference in our community every day of the year, 24/7,” said Ambulance Corps Capt. Ian Schwartz, who presented the volunteers with their awards.

Jaime Valencia and Debbie Scogna were among those honored, according to the statement, which said that both received Distinguished Member awards.

Simon Cohen and Mary Kohrherr also were honored with each taking home a Meritorious Award, according to the statement, which said that Alaric Young, Michael Farley and Michael Husband were each honored with an Exceptional Service Award.

Also recognized at the party were those who earned CPR Save Awards in the past year, including Schwartz, Scogna, Young and Farley. Other winners of the award include Matt Weir, Sharon Saldo, Bobby Kearns, Brett Roberts and John Niccari, according to the group’s statement.

“We are an independent, state-certified ambulance service managed by local volunteers for almost 50 years,” Schwartz said. “Last year, our EMT’s and crews responded to (more than) 1,000 emergency calls and we are on track to exceed that number in 2016.”

The Tarrytown Volunteer Ambulance Corps provides, training, courses and uniforms, and is always looking for volunteers. Anyone interested should visit the organization’s website or call 914-631-6469.
