Nick Offerman has landed his first big-screen lead in Brett Haley’s upcoming musical Hearts Beat Loud for Park Pictures, Burn Later Prods. and Houston King Prods.
Ted Danson, Sasha Lane, Blythe Danner and Toni Collette also join the cast that already included Kiersey Clemons.
Co-written by Haley and Marc Basch, the film centers on a father (Offerman) and daughter (Clemons) who form an unlikely songwriting duo in the last summer before she leaves for college. Hearts Beat Loud will feature four original songs and a score by award-winning composer-songwriter Keegan DeWitt. Offerman and Clemons will both sing in the film.
“I wrote the film with Nick Offerman in mind after my experience working with him on The Hero,” said Haley. “He is one of my favorite actors, and I’m very excited to be putting him at the center of this film.”
Hearts Beat Loud will be produced by Houston King, Sam Bisbee and Sam Slater and executive produced by Franklin Carson, Paul Bernon, David Bernon, Theodora Dunlap, Jackie Bisbee, Lance Accord, Danny Rifkin, Frank Brenner and Offerman. Amy Jarvela and Rowan Riley are co-producing.
The film will shoot in New York City in August. WME is handling sales.
Offerman is best known for his role as Ron Swanson on the NBC comedy Parks & Recreation. Offerman recently co-starred in The Weinstein Co.’s The Founder and played a supporting role in The Little Hours.
He is repped by UTA and Jackoway Tyerman. Danson is handled by WME and Industry Entertainment. Lane is represented by The Gersh Agency and The Long Run. Danner is repped by Anonymous Content. Collette is handled by CAA and Finley Management.
