CBFC refuses certificate to the trailer of 72 Hoorain; 'There's something wrong with the censor board and Prasoon Joshi is answerable,' says Ashoke Pandit

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has turned down the trailer of 72 Hoorain, a National Award-winning film, citing the removal of specific visuals, references to the Qur'an, and animal welfare. However, the filmmakers argue that as the film already has a censor certificate, it should apply to the trailer as well and claim the decision has left them shocked. The trailer will now be released digitally on June 28. The producers have pledged to take the matter to higher authorities and have accused the members of the CBFC of being "black sheeps".

In a surprising turn of events, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has refused the trailer of the highly anticipated National Award winning film 72 Hoorain. This decision has sent shockwaves through the film industry and sparked debates surrounding creative freedom and censorship.
Speaking about the refusal of CBFC certificate to the trailer of the film, co-producer Ashoke Pandit said, "We have shown the feet of a dead body which CBFC has asked to remove.
A reference to the Qur'an has been asked to be removed. There's something else regarding animal welfare too, but that's not important. What's important is that it's a National Award winning film. You have issued a censor certificate to the film. The trailer consists of the same visuals. So, how can you reject the trailer? We will be releasing the trailer digitally anyway. Earlier we were going to release it at PVR, but now we will release it at The Club in Andheri."
Upset with CBFC's decision, Pandit added, "We're going to rip off the censor board tomorrow. Who are these people sitting there? It's a very serious matter. All the authorities of the censor board are answerable to this decision of rejecting the certificate to the trailer of a National Award winning film. The film also won an award at the Indian Panorama section at IFFI. How can you reject the censor certificate to that film? There's something wrong in the censor board and Prasoon Joshi is answerable. There are some black sheeps in the censor board."
CBFC has already given a green signal to the movie (72 Hoorain), but has rejected the trailer that carries the same essence and content. So the rejection has come across as a huge shock to the makers. The makers state that they shall now be taking this matter to higher authorities for assistance. They will also be requesting the I&B ministry to intervene in the matter and to question the higher authorities of CBFC.
The trailer of 72 Hoorain will be released digitally on June 28. The film directed by two time National Award winner Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan, was slated to release on July 7. It has been produced by Gulab Singh Tanwar, Kiran Dagar, Anirudh Tanwar and is co-produced by Ashoke Pandit.
