Village Food Market Gets Approval to Expand

Grocery store will take over full city block.

(Originally posted on Dec. 7, 2016) GROSSE POINTE FARMS, MI — Village Food Market, which has been in business since 1938, is expanding. The store at 18310 Mack Ave. will soon occupy almost an entire city block, The Grosse Pointe Times reported. The specialty market expanded to the former Preferred Cleaners location at 18300 Mack Ave. in 2015 and now will grow at the former Bolton Johnson Realty at 18340 Mack Ave.

At a recent meeting, the Grosse Pointe Farms City Council unanimously approved store owner Mark Garmo's site plan for a 1,0000-square-foot addition to Village Food Market. He also plans to remodel the interior of the store.

The business will remain open during construction.
