BEIJING -- Hyundai Motor's monthly sales volume in China improved during September, suggesting a light at the end of a dark tunnel for the South Korean automaker, which Chinese consumers have punished for Seoul's decision to deploy a U.S. missile defense system.

Though September sales plunged 21.5% on the year to 125,000 vehicles, that marks the first result above 100,000 in eight months. Monthly volume hit bottom in April to June, falling as low as 50,000 units.
