I'm not ashamed to admit it. I’ve been where you are. You want more of the things that you consider to be a necessity and less of the things that drain your energy. I get that being a High-Performing leader, parent, and entrepreneur has you live under the constant pressure to balance, build, and sustain the life you have envisioned for yourself. I also get that you are prone to burnout, often hard on yourself, and you may get tired more quickly than you'd like to admit. Despite your success, you often experience self-doubt, fear of failure, and can feel trapped by the very systems you have built to keep you striving. Lately, self-sabotage has been a common thing, but you brush it under the rug because you can't turn your responsibilities off. There's a good chance that you have a high tolerance for setbacks, have harnessed the endurance required for entrepreneurship, and have developed the type of tenacity that should be rewarded with a medal! Daily self-discipline is essential for you, and although it's essential, maintaining your commitment to your discipline seems to get harder by the day. Loneliness is a real thing; even in a full house. So is the reality that you're prone to living with the courage to confront your edges with bravery and grace. You are not deceived by the notion of financial freedom; instead, you have come to understand the different types of freedom your purpose-driven life offers you. Above all, you are fully aware of the immense effort required to manifest your ideas into reality. And yet, with all that said, you feel bad when you're tired. You want to perform at a higher level, you want it to feel easier, and you may even want to experience some more assurances in exchange for all your effort. Truth is, you're closer than you think to having these challenges and issues turn into blessings and opportunities. How Ignoring Burnout Nearly Cost Me Everything🚨 Several years ago, I found myself trapped in the relentless grind of seeing up to 45 patients a week in private practice as a Clinical Psychologist. I thought I could handle it all—until burnout nearly derailed my life. Pushing myself to the limit, I ignored the signs my body and mind were desperately trying to communicate to me. The result? Severe health issues, emergency surgeries, and a forced career pivot. It wasn’t just about being tired; it was a full-blown crisis that reminded me of a crucial lesson: self-care is not a luxury, but a necessity. It’s been almost 20 years since that happened, and even though I’m chronologically so much older, I’m healthier now physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually than I was 20 years ago. Why? Because my Self-care has become non-negotiable. The journey to recovery taught me that continuous high performance isn’t sustainable without adequate rest. I had to learn the hard way that taking time to recharge is essential for long-term success and well-being. Here’s what I discovered: 1. Rest is Critical: Regular breaks and self-care are vital for avoiding burnout. 2. Set Boundaries: Prioritizing your well-being helps maintain balance and effectiveness. Part of that is learning to say “no” from time to time. You might even say that a no to others is a yes to ourselves! 3. Listen to Your Body: Ignoring the signs of fatigue can lead to serious consequences. Today, I advocate for a healthier approach to work and life. 48 and Fearless? 47 was a milestone year for me. I launched The Uncovery App, the first women’s empowerment app focused on alcohol-free living. She Walks Canada grew by over 12,000 women, with 250+ in-person walks across North America. My first masterclass, in both video and book form, made its debut. All of this was the culmination of many small, intentional steps taken over the years, with the unwavering support and encouragement of many. But even with gratitude flowing, a current ran beneath: fear. ❗ Fear that the app wouldn’t generate enough revenue to sustain both The Uncovery App and She Walks Canada. ❗ Fear that my work might not be impactful. ❗ Fear that as more time passes since my “rock enough” moment, I could lose my relevance. And the biggest fear of all: What if I fail? I’ve been deeply rooted in the alcohol-free space for years, despite past colleagues warning that sharing my journey of overcoming overdrinking could make me “unhirable.” Yet, here I am, still wondering if I can truly grow into the shoes I’ve created. But I know I’m not the first entrepreneur to feel this way. The root of this fear? It’s the narrative—not the truth—that I’m not enough, not doing enough, not serving enough. So, I began learning. I studied leaders who came before me—the ones who built big, new, and beautiful things. I learned how they faced their fears, and most importantly, how they replaced fear with possibility. As I step into my 48th year, I’m committed to uprooting fear and planting possibility. I’ll start by confronting one of my greatest fears—heights—with an Edge Walk to mark this new chapter. As you know from this podcast, BDC has a report noting 100,000 fewer entrepreneurs in Canada now compared to 2000. “When you think about that shark American ethos, playing to win … but then also having the Canadian kindness, I think that’s where Canada and Canadians have a really big opportunity.” Rachel Zimmer, Simple Ventures CEO. Understandably, it’s often because people are overwhelmed with demands on their time.⁣ 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐢𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬⁣ • No response 𝘪𝘴 actually a response. ⁣ • People make up ‘stories’ about why you’re not responding: 𝘐’𝘮 𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘵. 𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘥𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘳 𝘮𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘩𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦. The faster you focus on the solution, the faster you’ll actually find one! It’s too easy sometimes to let big emotions take over when mistakes are made (by yourself or others), but you can’t let your emotions cloud your judgment or keep you from attending to what’s most important. Next time you find yourself becoming too fixated on a problem, ask yourself: Is my thinking actually leading me toward a solution, or simply keeping me stuck?

All the GREATS didn't get there alone! <So, WHY are you trying to?> Talking with a CORE/LIBERTAS Mastermind member the other day... It's... Cliche, AND ALSO TRUE... "our net worth is equal to our network"! It's... Cliche, AND ALSO TRUE... "two heads are better than one"! He will tell you, ...his law enforcement career AND his businesses and his investments are a direct result of mentorship, masterminds, and collaboration. It blows my mind when I run into people who ... ...."don't have time" to network or invest in powerful conversations ....immediately put up blocks to openly and freely sharing ....isolate themselves, believing they can muscle through alone ....let their egos block their blessings.... I'm not saying it's not good to be disciplined, have standards, have boundaries, and operate with discernment as to WHO you allow to speak into your world. Those are necessary.... But, check yourself... Be sure you're not just claiming those are the reasons you don't put yourself in powerful mastermind opportunities because you're ...ego is in the way ...feeling imposter syndrome ...freaking out about the money it will "cost" I would NOT be where I am today if not for INVESTING in... ↳ COACHING ↳ MENTORSHIP ↳ MASTERMINDS 🦿 Could kick myself for the years I avoided "spending" money on those things.
