Chick-fil-A Is Expanding Its Food Truck Fleet

Brace for chicken sandwiches and lemonade on wheels: Chick-fil-A is rolling out a food truck in Houston later this month. It’s basically the perfect place for a mobile chicken sandwich shop; as the Houston Chronicle reports, Houston is home to the two busiest Chick-fil-A locations in the country.

The truck’s menu will be limited to signature items: waffle fries, sweet tea and lemonade, “one or two cold entrée products,” and of course, those endlessly imitated chicken sandwiches.

It’s not the chain’s first foray into food trucks, however: Its first truck hit Washington D.C. back in 2012. Emblazoned with the famous cows, it too serves a limited menu of chicken sandwiches, nuggets, fries, and drinks as it travels around the city.

Does the Houston launch mean more Chick-fil-A food trucks will be popping up around the country? The company did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

While slinging chicken sandwiches and waffle fries from drive-thru windows manned by incredibly polite workers remains Chick-fil-A’s bread and butter, the beloved chain has also made plenty of strides to branch out in recent months: It launched a mobile app complete with order-and-pay-ahead capabilities, rolled out a healthier, grilled chicken and egg white breakfast sandwich, and is even testing quinoa bowls.
