Learn MORE about Clemm Rishad!
“Being from Tacoma, I learned to work even harder,” he says. “I make music for that grind. You look outside and see all of these artists making history. I try to leave my mark. We’re hungry up here. I spent a lot of time helping others on their albums. It’s time for me to do that for myself.”
After discovering OutKast, Kanye West, Nas, 50 Cent, and Jay-Z in high school, Clemm wholeheartedly devoted himself to hip-hop. He dedicated years to crafting an inimitable style equally steeped in classic soul sounds as it is in deft and dexterous wordplay. Inspired to share that energy, he feverishly wrote music for himself and other artists.
“No matter what, it’s all meant to be encouraging,” he exclaims. “We only get three minutes to talk to the world—sometimes even less. You have to say things on your heart that mean something to you. It’s all about being yourself.”
By doing just that, he started to land songwriting placements as one-half of the duo Writer’s Block in 2010. Among a string of successes, he wrote Nicki Minaj’s RIAA platinum-certified “Fly” [feat. Rihanna] from the GRAMMY® Award-nominated classic Pink Friday, Jason Derulo’s “Dumb,” Iyaz’s “Pretty Girls,” and more in addition to 2017 cuts like Lupe Fiasco’s “Made In The USA” [feat. Bianca Sings] and Rick Ross’s “Lamborghini Doors” [feat. Meek Mill & Anthony Hamilton] off the Billboard Top 200 chart-topping Rather You Than Me. Simultaneously, he relentlessly toured and released a series of mixtapes highlighted by collaborations with everyone from Kurupt to Rockie Fresh and most recently culminating on 2014’s Supaflyness. Along the way, he garnered features from XXL, Respect Mag, and more. Now, So Far So Good represents the culmination of his journey thus far.
Boasting production by GRAMMY® Award-winning powerhouse STREETRUNNER [Eminem, Lil Wayne] as well as guest spots from Lupe Fiasco and more to be announced, this body of work proves to be his most passionate, personal, and powerful to date. Over rich soul-infused soundscapes, he delivers airtight and anthemic bars, while examining his life over the past few years.
“It’s really like my introduction,” he goes on. “I’ve been through so much since Supaflyness. My dad has been in and out of the hospital. My son was born. So Far So Good is my progress report of where I’m at today. 7 years into this game, I’m showing what I’ve learned. I made my way into this industry and did something I dreamed of. Almost losing my father showed me what I’m doing this for. I’ve worked so hard to build my name. I gave my son the same name, so he can enjoy what I’m building forever.”
What he’s building also encompasses Sky Movement and Sky Creative. Since 2013, Sky Movement has produced one of the Pacific Northwest’s biggest music experiences: Dope Music Festival at the iconic Tacoma Dome. Growing exponentially each year, the fest has played host to the likes of Lil Wayne, Gucci Mane, Meek Mill, Lil Uzi Vert, Chris Brown, Rich Homie Quan, ScHoolboy Q, and more with Clemm sharing stage alongside these stars during every subsequent installment. Simultaneously, Sky Creative functions as a full-service creative hub, providing the next generation of Tacoma artists a platform and means for success.
