LGD Forever Young and IG Vitality are the winners of the Boston Major Chinese qualifiers

The Boston Major regional qualifiers are officially over, after China decided its two teams advancing into the LAN event.

Director8’s team LGD Forever Young was the first to claim their Boston tickets after winning both of their upper bracket series. Placing second in the group stage, LGD Forever Young started the playoffs against EHOME.Keen and quickly took a convincing 2-0 victory to advance into the upper bracket finals, where they faced Invictus Gaming Vitality. Emphasizing early five man pushes, Zhang 'xiao8' Ning had a different approach compared to the rest of the regions. LFY’s lethal weapons were supports like Enigma, Jakiro, and Leshrac paired with early fighting cores like Dragon Knight, Razor or Invoker.

IG Vitality, the second qualified team from China, had a similar game plan and managed to break the lower bracket curse, being the only team from across all regions who has won the lower bracket finals after losing the upper bracket.

At the end of the five days Boston Major regional qualifiers, it looks like Chinese Dota as a whole developed its own meta, with many of the most played heroes in EU, Americas, and SEA not making constant appearances in the Chinese matches.

On a side note, none of the eight qualified teams to the Boston Major have been at The International 6, and from the sixteen attending teams at this Fall Major, nine of them are Asian.  Hopefully, the impressive number of Asian teams heading to Boston will not be directly proportional with visa issues. The Boston Major main event will take place from 7th to 10th of December at the Wang Theater in a single elimination bracket format.
