River Island’s fashion film, “Design Forum Collection”, featuring work by men’s fashion designer Lou Dalton, has won a Grand Prix award at the Ciclope Festival of Craft, held in Berlin. The 2:30 minute film features Scottish model Connor Newall in a set of rural scenes, wearing elements of the 13-piece collection created by Lou Dalton. We’re treated to the sounds of the dairy milking shed, an engineering workshop, and the stillness of a fox in the wild. Lou Dalton’s collection is designed to evoke a sense of nostalgia with slogan tees and youthful pieces, drawing inspiration from photographer Perry Ogden’s book Pony Kids, Lynne Ramsay’s 1999 film The Rat Catcher, and Clio Barnard’s 2013 film The Selfish Giant. Directed by Fred Rowson, the River Island Design Forum x Lou Dalton short film premiered at London Collections Men as part of Fashion Film, an initiative hosted by River Island and the British Fashion Council.
