A cute new megasnail has arrived in Ark: Survival Evolved [official site] and it is useful for... what, would you guess? You've got it: Achatina Limusegnis mucus can be used as glue. That's an easy one. What about the new ceratopsid Pachyrhinosaurus Mitisaura? If you guessed that it emits a calming scent when threatened, you've cheated and already looked at the answer you filthy rotter. I do enjoy the weekly routine of guessing what wacky gadgets dinosaurs are turned into with each Ark update. This week's patch adds four of 'em and also kicks off a Thanksgiving celebration with deadly 'Super Turkeys'.
These week's new additions are the sticky snail who can obviously also create lightweight plates for crafting, a nocturnal Megalosaurus Noctedominus who's a right terror at night but curls up like a big sleepy cutie during the day, a Komodo dragon-lookin' beastie who can eat anything and chews on materials to make them easier to harvest, and the Pachyrhinosaurus Mitisaura who can guff to either calm or enrage nearby wildlife. Any history book can tell you that's all true.
Meanwhile, Super Turkeys are once again roaming the land. Their wishbones can be used to craft, uh, a "Chieftain Headdress" (they've not got the memos, then), or you can try to summon the fearsome DodoRex.
The update also revamps the default Ark island's caves, make them as pretty and interesting as the rest of the place. As for the eternal problem of Ark, its performance, the notes mention "huge increase in server performance" and, on the client side, another option to shorten draw distance and make it uglier in exchange for better performance.
Still no word on when Ark will leave Early Access and properly launch. If developers Studio Wildcard keep adding new dinos week after week, eventually technology will advance enough for average PCs to run Ark well.
