Star ends skid with win over GlobalPort

The Star Hotshots relied on their sweet shooting as they torched the GlobalPort Batang Pier, 109-83, to end their three-game losing streak on Friday at the Araneta Coliseum.

Malcolm Hill had 32 points and 12 rebounds, while Ian Sangalang was stellar with 17 points and 10 boards off a 70 percent shooting clip.

No other player scored in double figures, although all but one of coach Chito Victolero's players scored in double figures.

It was all Star from the get-go, as they turned a 10-point halftime lead into a 65-81 cushion heading into the final turn.

GlobalPort barely put up a fight in the fourth, letting Star lead by more than 20 points in the final half of the period.

Murphey Holloway had 20 points, but the Batang Pier had to turn to their other players for extra points.

Terrence Romeo and Stanley Pringle were limited to 11 and five points, respectively, combining for a 5 of 31 clip from the field.

Bradwyn Guinto and Mac Baracael provided the spark off the bench with a combined 21, while Sean Anthony tallied 12. — BAP, GMA News
