Have you ever craved something so badly that all reason was just an excuse getting in your way?

Have you needed something so desperately that you didn’t care how you got it or who you hurt in the process?

I have—and not that long ago.

Acceptance.

Acceptance… from family and friends…

Acceptance of the person I am inside and not outright rejection.

It didn’t come easily for me, and now I believe the world needs to know just how ruthless life can be. How that overwhelming yearning for acceptance can mold you into someone you don’t recognize when you look in the mirror. I’m through hiding behind one façade after another—it’s time for the world to meet the real me.

I write YA / NA books, but I don't like being confined to subgenres within those. I read everything from fantasy and sci-fi to paranormal to romance fiction. So, who is to say I won't come out with paranormal series?

My novels usually feature strong girls who are fighting both internal and external battles but usually prevail in the end. There might also be age-gap romances featured. Sue me—I like older men.

I live in Arkansas with my husband who is a Prince fanatic and a few spooky ghosts that like to follow me wherever I go. Don't laugh at the ghosts. They don't like that.

She never seemed to fit in, anywhere, except maybe in her grandma’s arms. Her mother was a married man’s mistress and everyone knew both she and her sister were the results of a very long affair. When her father’s wife died, the three of them went to live in his upscale neighborhood and begin what should have been a fairy tale life of privilege, wealth, private schools and new friends who wouldn’t know her past. She would no longer be the outcast, the bullied or the shunned.

Antoinette was determined to start over, to fit in and to make the right impression, but once again, she is an outcast, they know her story and life is a living hell, as even at home she was made to feel like no matter what she did, she was not good enough. Would she ever find peace of mind or joy or even love? What was so wrong with her that no one seemed to accept her, not even her parents?

Acceptance, it was all Anna wanted, but she was the square peg trying to fit in the round hole and she had no idea why. This is her story, a painful and heartbreaking journey told through her own voice through her journal. It is a story of bullying, of depression, of wanting to die, of wanting to live and show the world she was strong. It is the story of the ugliness of humanity, the cruelty of family and the lack of a place to land for shelter and safety, of making bad choices in a desperate attempt to find anything close to being love. It is pinning one’s hopes on someone who is off limits.

T. Marie Alexander made my eyes fill with tears of sadness, indignation and pure outrage that any child should feel alone and unloved or to be judged by others for circumstances beyond her control. REVELATIONS is an indictment of what today’s world has become and the lack of compassion that can spread like wildfire on a hot and windy day. An older young adult book that belongs front and center to be read by ALL.

Ms. Alexander has condensed years of pain into just a few pages and given Anna the strength to keep trying, even against the worst of circumstances, not all teens have that inner strength and surely it warps their prospective on what life, love and humanity should be. Extremely powerful, deeply emotional and painfully told, this is a must read, no matter how difficult.

All I can say is, if you do NOT read this one, you are missing heartfelt and beautiful writing!

I received an ARC edition from T. Marie Alexander in exchange for my honest review.

Wow! The first sentence alone already had me hooked. How much more the rest of the story?

This story is written like a series of journal entries. Yes, I have read a book recently that was done the same way. In this book, instead of Dear Diary, it was Dear Antoinette. Antoinette Justice is the main character of this story. Pretty much the whole story revolved around her issues as a teenager. Her need for acceptance and love. Her trying to overcome her insecurities and self-esteem issues.

This is an account of Antoinette's sad and scorned life. In her young life, she had experienced a lot of heartaches that only happen in a drama series. A life where she is trying hard to fit in, even at home. Her search for love and acceptance brought her to people and places where ordinarily people her age not go. She stumbled upon unlikely friendships which help her get out of her shell. The same friendship also introduced her to people whom she thought will love her but ended up hurting and breaking her more.

This story will squeeze your heart to a breaking point. The events of Antoinette's life could well be situations in real life, only they do not happen to different people. Her own parents, whom should love her unconditionally has a different way of showing love, which are in most cases not at all acts which could be construed as love. She found love in a person she shouldn't get involved. This has been the lowest she could go. Good thing, she had more sense than she gives herself credit for. She got out from that situation even if it took all of her willpower to do so.

This is a coming of age story of finding one's self. Of realizing one's worth not from the superficial gauge people set but from a perspective one has to follow--one's self and values. Growing and learning from life's experiences, no matter how cruel they were, made her stronger and wiser. This is exactly what Antoinette had to do. In the end, all the times she endured and all those hardships have paid off. And she is now free of all the bad things and negative emotions that shackled her. She is free to love and be loved and she can be everything she wanted to be because she is a strong woman. She has been schooled in the hardest lessons in life and she is now ready to take on anything.

I give this book 5/5 pairs of women's running shoes. This is a story of a very strong girl who didn't know her strength and her worth. She had to go through some traumatic and tragic things in life to shine through. In the end, she only needed to find herself.

Life is made of obstacles that test you as a person. Sometimes, those obstacles are people. Sometimes, they are emotions. And other times, the obstacle is you.

If you would like to see all my thoughts on this book, be sure to check out the review on my blog:

But here is a snippet and overview of what I thought:

I had several expectations for this book and unfortunately, none of them were met. I found this story to be average overall but there was also a lot of potential that can be found if the author decided to revise this book. There is a lot of potential just sitting on the pages of this book.

I tried but i couldntt finish

I made it three chapters in and gave up. The writing is childish and the characters act irrational all the time. There is no flow and no clear plot. This one just was not for me.

Frankly, I was a little disturbed by this audiobook. Antoinette (Anna) craves acceptance but tries to find it with much older men. I can forgive a naive teenager for this obsession but I have a hard time with a gym teacher at her school, who's married with a child on the way, having an attraction for a 15-year old. I didn't like the example that was set here. It is NOT okay under any circumstances for a high school student to date a teacher, regardless of the outcome.

The narration was okay but I'm not sure that I would recommend this.

I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator. This review is my honest opinion.

I won this book as part of a giveaway. It is about the struggles growing up for a young girl from elementary through high school. I thought it was a good read but I felt that the ending was "too easy." I don't want to be a spoiler so I won't reveal anything. I DID find myself really feeling for Antoinette as she faced the many hurdles in her life. I think it was definitely worth the read.

Wow!

I did not expect this book to be what it was! The Author has excelled at bringing the story of Antoinette to life and what a messed up story it was!

Rarely does a book make me cry but you'd have to have a heart of stone not to shed a tear at this one!

I am sorry to say I expected something much more commercial and was so surprised to discover and original, heart wrenching and poignant story!

Although many won't be able to relate to Antoinette's story you can't help but root for her to get the happy ending she so deserves and this well paced novel will make you pine for it when you have to get on with daily life!

Well done T. Marie Alexander this book is awesome!

This was not at all what I expected. The depth of this book was shocking and the path that the protagonist’s life carves is not generic or commercialized. Antoinette’s life is seriously messed up and yet somehow despite the never-ending changes, trials, and betrayals, she remains strong and good. She struggles deeply and reaches some heartbreaking lows but she refuses to let go of her values and her standards. Between that inner strength and the few loyal people in her life she manages to grow into a beautiful, strong, and admirable young woman.

I can’t say I relate to most of Antoinette’s story but I found her captivating.
Conversational and honest, the plot danced at the perfect pace and varied the tone just right. I know Antoinette is a fictional character but I feel happy that she got her happily ever after.

Dark, honest, poignant, Revelations confesses those life-altering moments that shape the person one becomes. This story is captivating and unique yet speaks to many with deep understanding.

The life of a teen is a hard path when bulling is in involved. Antoinette's life was filled with betrayal and hardship, but without family values to refer she develop into her own person. This story shows that it does not matter what type of background you come from, if you believe in yourself the skies the limit. This book brought me to tears, because this is a every day event it wasn't just a book a child in need of love from mother being or bullied at school. No one taking the in the family until it is to late. This is a great good for everyone of every age, a learning experience.
