Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said Sunday that “there will be pitchforks and torches in the street” if the Republican Party doesn’t deliver on its promises to voters.

“If we’re given the White House and both houses of Congress and we don’t deliver, I think there will be pitchforks and torches in the streets. And I think quite rightly,” he told ABC’s This Week, responding to a question from Martha Raddatz about Trump having “changed his tune” on many of his core campaign promises.

Cruz referenced the anti-establishment sentiment of voters that propelled President-elect Donald Trump to victory in the election.

“I think people are so fed up with Washington, this election was a mandate with change and the most catastrophic thing Republicans could do is go back to business as usual,” he said.

Although Cruz campaigned aggressively against Trump during the primaries, he’s appeared to make amends with Trump, saying that he plans to work with Trump and other members of Congress “to deliver on what we promised.”

Cruz has been floated as a possible Supreme Court appointee.
