“The goal was to make something human,” Mangold told Empire. “We made an effort to scale back on the gloss and greenscreen [sic].”Hugh Jackman agreed with Mangold, telling Empire that it’s important to see the film “as the story of a man who is struggling with mortality and legacy, and whether the world has been better off with him or without him."
As Empire notes, the Logan script page Mangold previously teased in a photo earlier this year lines up with those aims of telling a more human story that is less CGI-intensive than most comic book and other blockbuster action films.
Logan will be released on March 3, 2017.
