Authorities on Staten Island are searching for a man who escaped police custody in handcuffs this morning.

The NYPD says officers from the 120th precinct were aiding state parole officers around 7 a.m. when the man, identifed as Hector Calo, 41, fled from a home on Van Duzer Street in Tompkinsville.

Police say was wearing just his underwear at the time.

The search is said to be concentarted in a wooded area off Van Duzer Street and St. Pauls Avenue.

Police say Calo was in the custody of parole officers, and was seen committing some type of violation, although it's not clear exactly what.

He was previously sent to prison for narcotics, and was released on parole in 2015.
