Christina Aguilera releases Telepathy music video

Christina Aguilera just dropped her first solo music video in over four years.

The 35-year-old singer premiered a short clip for a condensed version of her latest single, “Telepathy,” online Sunday afternoon, which sees her sporting huge Moulin Rouge!-era hair, clad in knee-high boots, and belting the song’s lyrics as she lays atop a glittery pool table.

“I wanted to make a fun video for my fans since ‘Telepathy’ from The Get Down is #1 on the Billboard Dance Club Songs Chart,” she wrote on Facebook. “Thanks to all the fans, radio and DJs loving the song! XoXtina.”

The Nile Rodgers-assisted track, filled with soaring strings, a lush wall of horns, funky drums, and Aguilera’s signature vocal riffs, is featured on the soundtrack for Baz Luhrmann’s Netflix series The Get Down, which was released in August. Aguilera previously recorded a cover of “Lady Marmalade” with Pink, Lil Kim, and May for another Luhrmann project, the 2001 movie musical Moulin Rouge!, which stars Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor.

Though she hasn’t released a new album since 2012’s Lotus, “Telepathy” marks Aguilera’s second single released in 2016. In June, she debuted the ballad “Change,” of which proceeds from download sales were donated to the National Compassion Fund to benefit the victims of those who were killed in the Pulse nightclub massacre in Orlando, Florida.

She is currently working on Lotus‘ follow-up, however, which is rumored to include collaborations with everyone from Rodgers and Pharrell Williams to Da Internz.
