November’s New Releases

It’s November! And holy heck where has 2016 gone? Not that I’m complaining, because it’s been a slight trash fire, but at least that means more books on the horizon. Before we get to what we’re really pumped for, below are some popular titles that we know will be on many TBR piles:

  • Stephanie Plum is back to her old adventures in Turbo Twenty Three ( A | BN | K | G | AB )
  • Zadie Smith is out with a new novel, titled Swing Time ( A | BN | K | G | AB )
  • For all those Gilmore Girls fans out there, Lauren Graham’s memoir is out – Talking as Fast as I Can ( A | BN | K | G | AB )
  • Stephenie Meyer (yes, that Stephenie Meyer) has a pretty neat sounding mystery/thriller releasing, called The Chemist ( A | BN | K | G | AB )
  • And a book I know many are excited about Nalini Sing’s Archangel’s Heart ( A | BN | K | G | AB )

What November releases are you hoping to read?

  • Mr. President

    Mr. President by Katy Evans

    Author: Katy Evans
Released: October 31, 2016 by Katy Evans
    Genre: ,
    Series: White House #1

From New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author Katy Evans comes a sizzling new contemporary romance.

He’s won the hearts of millions. But is he willing to lose his?

I met the president’s son when we were both young. Matthew Hamilton was handsome, polished, and intelligent. I’d never met a guy like him.

He promised me that he’d never run for president. I promised that if he did, I’d be by his side.

Three terms later, an invitation to join Matthew Hamilton’s campaign is the most exhilarating opportunity I’ve ever experienced. I’m determined to make a difference; he is determined to win.

Focused on his goal, Matt is steadfast, ruthless, and disarming. All eyes are on him and his popularity is surging. But soon, the next possible president of the United States is possessing me in more ways than one–and despite the risks, I’m helpless to resist.

We’re stealing touches, stealing moments, and stealing away at night. But our chemical connection is quickly becoming dangerously combustive, putting not only my heart, but Matt’s chance at the presidency on the line.

Winning will take everything. Walking away will be the hardest thing of all.

Elyse says: Despite the dumpster fire that is this election, I love me some presidential romances–Dave, The American President, The West Wing… so I am all about this book.

  • Devil’s Honor

    Devil’s Honor by Megan Crane

    Author: Megan Crane
Released: November 1, 2016 by Loveswept
    Genre: ,
    Series: The Devil's Keepers #1

In the start of a sizzling new series, bestselling author Megan Crane takes readers deep into bayou country, where the sultry swamp has nothing on the heat of Louisiana’s fiercest bikers: the Devil’s Keepers.

Merritt Broussard grew up knowing she had two choices if she stayed in Lagrange: run with the outlaws or get left in their dust. So she got the hell out, leaving behind a bad-boy biker and scorching memories of their summer fling. Now Merritt’s back, with trouble on her tail, and the sergeant-at-arms of the Devil’s Keepers is the one person she can still trust. But Greeley isn’t the boy she remembers. He’s harder now, more dangerous—and even more alluring.

Joseph “Greeley” Shaw loves two things: his bike and his club. At eighteen, he escaped a rough life, found the Devil’s Keepers on the wrong side of a bad weekend, and never looked back. Greeley swore to live and die by their code: Devil’s Keepers first, Devil’s Keepers forever. No one comes between him and his brothers—except for the tantalizing woman who touched his soul. Greeley’s the kind of man who honors his commitments . . . and Merritt is one promise he’s determined to keep.

Elyse says: I typically don’t do biker romance but I like Megan Crane.

Released: November 8, 2016 by Harper Voyager
    Genre:
    Series: Central Corps #2

In this follow-up to the acclaimed military science fiction thriller The Cold Between, a young soldier finds herself caught in the crosshairs of a deadly conspiracy in deep space

Six weeks ago, Commander Elena Shaw and Captain Greg Foster were court-martialed for their role in an event Central Gov denies ever happened. Yet instead of a dishonorable discharge or time in a military prison, Shaw and Foster and are now back together on Galileo. As punishment, they’ve been assigned to patrol the nearly empty space of the Third Sector.

But their mundane mission quickly turns treacherous when the Galileo picks up a distress call: Exeter, a sister ship, is under attack from raiders. A PSI generation ship—the same one that recently broke off negotiations with Foster—is also in the sector and joins in the desperate battle that leaves ninety-seven of Exeter’s crew dead.

An investigation of the disaster points to sabotage. And Exeter is only the beginning. When the PSI ship and Galileo suffer their own “accidents,” it becomes clear that someone is willing to set off a war in the Third Sector to keep their secrets, and the clues point to the highest echelons of power . . . and deep into Shaw’s past.

  • Blank Spaces

    Blank Spaces by Cass Lennox

    Author: Cass Lennox
Released: November 14, 2016 by Riptide Publishing
    Genre: , ,
    Series: Toronto Connections #1

Absence is as crucial as presence.

The decision to stop dating has made Vaughn Hargrave’s life infinitely simpler: he has friends, an excellent wardrobe, and a job in the industry he loves. That’s all he really needs, especially since sex isn’t his forte anyway and no one else seems interested in a purely romantic connection. But when a piece is stolen from his art gallery and insurance investigator Jonah Sondern shows up, Vaughn finds himself struggling with that decision.

Jonah wants his men like his coffee: hot, intense, and daily. But Vaughn seems to be the one gay guy in Toronto who doesn’t do hookups, which is all Jonah can offer. No way can Jonah give Vaughn what he really wants, not when Jonah barely understands what love is.

When another painting goes missing, tension ramps up both on and off the clock. Vaughn and Jonah find themselves grappling not just with stolen art, but with their own differences. Because a guy who wants nothing but romance and a guy who wants nothing but sex will never work–right? Not unless they find a way to fill in the spaces between them.

Sarah says: Two varying levels of intention in terms of commitment – and an art gallery with a thief problem.

  • Scrappy Little Nobody

Scrappy Little Nobody by Anna Kendrick

    Author: Anna Kendrick
Released: November 15, 2016 by Touchstone
    Genre: ,

A collection of humorous autobiographical essays by the Academy Award-nominated actress and star of Up in the Air and Pitch Perfect.

“I’m excited to publish my first book, and because I get uncomfortable when people have high expectations, I’d like to use this opportunity to showcase my ineptitude, pettiness, and the frequency with which I embarrass myself. And while many of my female inspirations who have become authors are incredibly well-educated and accomplished comedy writers, I’m very, very funny on Twitter, according to Buzzfeed and my mom, so I feel like this is a great idea. Quick question: are run-on sentences still frowned upon? Wait, is ending a sentence with a preposition still frowned upon? I mean, upon frowned? Dammit!” —Anna Kendrick

Anna Kendrick’s autobiographical collection of essays amusingly recounts memorable moments throughout her life, from her middle class upbringing in New England to the blockbuster movies that have made her one of Hollywood’s most popular actresses today. Expanding upon the witty and ironic dispatches for which she is known, Anna Kendrick’s essays offer her one-of-a-kind commentary on the absurdities she’s experienced on her way to and from the heart of pop culture.

Amanda says: C’mon, it’s Anna Kendrick!

“Romancing the Inventor” by Gail Carriger is out Nov 1. It’s an F/F romance novella (150 pages) featuring Genevieve Lefoux!

I just discovered Carriger has started self-publishing stand-one romances featuring side characters from her various series and I am so happy. I read her first one two weeks ago, featuring an adult Preshea, first seen in her The Finishing School series, and it was great! There was a house party!

Aside from Blank Spaces, I’m deffo looking forward to reading Timekeeper by Tara Sim (Book 1 in an M/M YA series with heavy time-travel themes).

Fire In You by Jennifer Armentrout/J Lynn (I think she’s pretty much given up on trying to keep those names separate) comes out on the 28. Really looking forward to this one.

I both love and loathe when this particular feature pops up in my reader, because it means I’m about to spend a lot of money on preorders. Blank Spaces is totally my catnip, but is sadly not up for preorder on amazon yet.
