This fun coffee book table for Classic Film lovers is filled with publicity photos, production stills and fantastic candids of all your favourite stars, and some you may not be as familiar with, enjoying a good ol' cup of Joe. Large, good quality photographs are what you will find in this one, with a sentence or two of description. Enjoyable, light flip-through reading.

This is a perfect book for those that love classic movies and the celebrities that starred in them. Publicity in the old studio era was forced through contract. And, I am kind of glad they did because I quite enjoy the publicity shots. And, who doesn't like coffee? A great addition to the ole coffee table.

Coffee …

… it’s the lifeblood of conversations, the black elixir that gets most of us moving in the morning, the pick-me-up in the middle of a hectic day and the finish to a fine meal.

But it’s not just the everyday person who depends on this magical beverage; the stars of the silver screen enjoyed it too. “Hollywood Café” is a collection of high quality photographs of actors, some very well know and some not so much, enjoying their coffee. But, it is more than that. What I particularly enjoyed about this book is the fact that every picture was accompanied by a short synopsis explaining, of course, who was in the photo but also the circumstances. Some were stills from films so a short recap of the film was provided, some were publicity stills and, some were advertising promotions – yes, even back then they had stars endorsing products.

My favorite pictures by far were the candid shots, coffee in the cafeteria, during make-up sessions and sitting waiting for shooting to resume. This book covers Hollywood from the 1980’s back to the silent film era and some of the coffee service items were interesting to see. No styrofoam cups for these folks; they used china pots with matching cups and saucers or mugs filled from elaborate samovars.

If you are interested in coffee, the glamour days of the silver screen or just some star gazing this is an interesting book to pick up. It would assuredly make a welcome addition to the coffee table book collection for any movie-phile.

'Hollywood Café: Coffee with the Stars' by Steven Rea is a collection of pictures of movie stars drinking coffee. In some cases, I wonder if they are really drinking coffee (W.C. Fields, I'm looking at you).

This book shows that in Golden Age Hollywood, coffee would seem to rule the day. Definitely for those early morning call times on the set. Even though the photos go from the silent era to the 1980s, all the photos in the book are in black and white, and that's how it should be. The photos are loosely arranged by category, so there are actors in costume, or playing wait staff. There are stills from movies, and stars having a cup of coffee while waiting for the cameras to roll. None of the photos looks very candid since they were most likely arranged by publicists. All your favorites are here, although Jimmy Stewart seems to be in the most pictures. There is an index at the back if you are looking for a particular star.

There are captions for most photos with information about what movie or tv show is being filmed (if it is known). Also, some of the photos had studio publicist captions on the back, so those are included. I liked the information, but the corny nature of some of the captions, I could have done without. It all makes coffee drinking seem exotic and glamorous, instead of that thing I do while I'm running for my bus. Even though there is not a lot to this book, I enjoyed it.

Imagine sitting down to enjoy a cup or coffee with one of your favorite TV or movie stars.
There is nothing like a cup of Joe, especially when you’re having it with your favorite celebrities.

Whether on set, in a quiet cafe someplace, a small restaurant, on the back lot, at a fund raiser or event I picture myself having a cup of coffee with celebrities from Hollywood.

Author Steven Rea’s new book: Hollywood Cafe Coffee With The Stars, published by Schiffer Publishing, is a collection of black and white photos of famous TV and movie stars sipping coffee from all the way back to the silent era of films.

I wish I would had opportunity to sip java with the likes of Jimmy Stewart, Rita Hayworth, Charlie Chaplin, Woody Allen, Elizabeth Taylor, Michael Caine and dozens of other classic TV/movie stars and starlets.

Short descriptions tell where the photos were taken and who the stars are.

If you love Hollywood nostalgia and TV and films in general then pull up a chair, pour yourself a cup of Joe and enjoy the famous company.

"Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man." — Proverbs 3:3-4

What a cute idea! Movie stars, in and out of costume, at home or at work, silents or talkies, all with one thing in common - coffee! Each photo has details about the stars and the film they were in at the time, and the occasional comment on the brand of coffee, or the type of coffeemaker. It's a witty, tongue-in-cheek collection, perfect for over-caffeinated movie buffs like me!

I enjoyed this book quite a bit and got some great ideas for movies favorite actors had done that I had never seen or even heard of ,that turned out to be great films. Having said this, the book is geared to a very specific niche audience, those that like old Hollywood and those that like coffee. (I do like both, in great quantities which is why I signed up for this book ! Lol) Cute, tongue in cheek coffee-table style book. Very quick book and no meat and potatoes. More like a snack or dessert. I was glad for the free copy but would not have purchased this book. Once I had read it once, I got out of it what I pretty much was looking for, but wouldn't likely go back to it again. Did overall enjoy the experience and enjoy seeing the photos, which were of extremely good HD quality. Would have enjoyed a few more anecdotes in the captions to make it a little meatier though. Experience was altogether pleasant so gave middle of the road 3 stars of 5. I would recommend the book, definitely, especially if you can get it free, or from the library or at a discounted price as a cool one time read but I would not pay full price for it.

What a wonderful "coffee" table book. If you enjoy the hey day of movies making - this book is for you.

Mary Pickford, Ronald Reagan, Charlie Chaplin, Boris Karloff (as Frankenstein), Bob Hope, Joan Crawford, Woody Allen.

Tidbits of the movies are included with each photo. The photos are on set, in costume and at home. Some actually ending up advertising coffee pots or coffee.

I'm not sure where some of the photos are from - but what a wonderful collection. Would love to be able to look at photo archives.

Coffee with the side of the star power!

Lovely book contains almost 200 photos (black-and-white, why) of the movie stars enjoying their coffee on and off the silver screen. Every photograph contains some information about the movie and the stars portrayed. Witty and informative, this is the book for any film and/or coffee lover!
On a personal note I very much enjoyed the star power, beauty and seemingly effortless elegance of actressed and actors. These days the sex appeal is everything, but the elegance and that certain spark what attracts you is missing. This collection is a nice example of what the true "IT" factor is!

It goes without saying, this is the ultimate coffee table book. I love movies (and coffee), so this was an easy one for me, but this collection of black and white photos is a delight for any fan of classic film. It's loosely divided into categories according to theme. But the joy of flipping through is what makes it special. Hitchcock, Hepburn, Elvis... This book inspired me to add a few gems to my Netflix queue.
