One of the most awaited products from Apple this year, apart from the iPhone 7, is the all new refreshed MacBook lineup. Now, it seems that the Cupertino-based firm is all set to unveil their new MacBooks alongside iMac and other Apple accessories on October 27.

Unlike last year, Apple is expected to make some major changes in their MacBook lineup and this includes both their MacBook Air and the MacBook Pro. In fact, the MacBooks have received very subtle updates for the last few years. This is especially applicable for the Retina Macbook Pro. Reports coming from various sources indicate that Tim Cook led company may ditch their 11.6 inch variant of the MacBook Air in favor of the 12 inch MacBook. For those unaware, Apple had launched a new 12 inch MacBook last year that failed to sell as per the expectations, mainly due to sheer competition from the 11 inch Air. So expect Apple to start selling the 12 inch Mac at a lower price this time around.

Talking of specs, the MacBook Air isn’t expected to receive a huge makeover. The main changes are expected to be the yearly modifications in the processor and RAM. The display, however, isn’t rumored to receive a major upgrade. In fact, reports suggest that Apple would still opt out from including a Retina display in their 13 inch Air. Nevertheless, the MacBook. Pro is all set to get a mass overhaul. Apart from the yearly changes in the internals, the Retina MacBook is reported to come with a touchscreen display this time around. It is also reported to include a TouchID placed on the Power button. While Fingerprint Sensors have gone mainstream on smartphones, the same can’t be said about laptops. In fact, with the integration Windows Hello, OEMs are slowly starting to include Biometric sensors in the devices. So, Apple can’t really be blamed for lagging behind.

An interesting inclusion in year’s MacBook Pro is the inclusion of the Polaris GPU sourced from AMD. This is expected to be clubbed with an unknown Intel Skylake processor. The touchpad is also expected to receive some changes with an inclusion of new gesture controls. That aside, both the MacBooks are reported to ditch the USB A (3.0) port in the favor of USB Type C. This will, in turn, lead to the demise of the proprietary MagSafe port that was responsible for charging the devices. Apple is also said to incorporate a Thunderbolt 3 port in the next-gen MacBooks. Well, that’s all we know about the MacBooks so far. However, expect more details to surface as the launch date inches closer.
