I received this book from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.

I wasn’t sure what to expect, sure, the blurb said something about a squirrel and a dog travelling across the globe to visit wildlife. But I didn’t know what kind of story it would be. Comic? Graphic Novel? Picture book style? Something else? A mix of stuff?

So I was delighted when I started reading and it turned out to be comics with gorgeous illustrations of the various wildlife of the place these 2 visit. Yes, gorgeous, you can’t just avert your eyes, these illustrations are really beautiful, and make the animals come to life.

The animals also pop up in comic form, I especially liked the little tiger, he was just so adorable, and both the characters were just running away from him.

The comics switch between serious (and thus learning readers something) to comedy. Which is a delight, this way the subject doesn’t become too heavy, and kids can learn something in a fun way.

I also loved the friendship between these 2 characters, it is not often you would see a squirrel and a dog being friends. Generally a dog would chase squirrels.

The idea of a cardboard plane? Loved it! It is something that kids do (I know I did). Of course sadly mine never flew like that, but in my imagination it sure did.

Would I recommend this book? Yes. Lovely comics with beautiful illustrations. Comedy with seriousness.

What a sweet book for kids! It follows the adventures of a curious puppy and a squirrel around the world, seeing the diverse fauna that there is. In this volume, they go to Asia, Africa and the jungles of southamerica. Whereas the two main characters are drawn more infantilized, the animals they discover are great representations made with great technique, and the whole of the book is so sweet and interesting!
Also, in the last pages, they provide more detailed information about the animals encountered during the travel.
I just love this book :)

This was a very well done mix of nonfiction, graphic novel, and picture book. A dog and a squirrel take us in their cardboard plane to the various jungles of the world and help us discover animals. It’s fun and a great alternative to standard nonfiction titles.

This is a cute and informative book about the animals in the jungles of Africa, South America, and Asia. I liked that more information about the animals was given in the back of the book.

This book is about little tails that went to the jungle. They saw animals in the jungle.
First they went to Africa and saw many animals, like gorillas, tarantulas.
Next they went to South America at the rainforest and they saw a howl monkey and piranhas and green anacondas, jaguars and some other animals. And then they went to Asia they saw a tiger a black panther. And when they saw a black panther they jumped on a plant and then they jumped out the plants. Then they landed on a elephant, after that they went to a party. 🎊
Last thing what happened with them is that they went home.

This book is insanely great! This one is all about jungles and their inhabitants. Truly an impressive work that collides all the accessibility of a graphic novel with all the facts of a non-fiction book.

Love it!!

Description: A beautiful illustrated children's book that mixes comic style with colorful paintings. It teaches children about geography, jungles and the life forms that live in them. A puppy and a squirrel go on a fun, educational adventure through various jungles, teaching the reader about everything they encounter.

In Short: This is a great book to entertain and educate children. The art is absolutely stunning and I think children would enjoy the comedy, adventure, and animals in this book. I highly recommend this book.

Pros: The characters are cute, funny, sweet and have good manners. The art style is unique and really pretty. The characters go on an adventure in their cardboard airplane (oh, the power of imagination) and they are portrayed in a cartoon-strip style while the background shows the jungle and the life within it in magnificent color in a lovely painted style. It is very detailed and informative and teaches children about different jungles, their locations, the weather, the animals and the bugs you find there. This is one of the most educational children's books I have read this year, and I really appreciate that. I even learned about the pink colored Amazon river dolphins! I also like that it made a point to teach children not only interesting facts about animals but that they should always use caution around unfamiliar animals. It also expresses the preciousness of nature. The end of the book has more images of the animals and some more information and fun facts about them. Overall it is a very informative and fun book!

Cons: I have no issues with this book.

I received a free e-copy of this book in return for my honest review.

'Little Tails in the Jungle' is by the same team that has done the Love series (The Tiger, The Lion, The Fox, etc.), so I looked forward to reading this. This is an educational comic for younger readers with some of the same high quality animal art of the other series.

Our narrators are a puppy named Chipper and a squirrel named Squizzo. We follow them on a journey to different jungles throughout the world to learn about animals. Their first stop is the African jungle where they see an okapi, bugs, gorillas and others. Then it's off to the Amazon and then to the jungles of Asia.

The drawings of Chipper and Squizzo are comic strips that run along the edge of the page. The jungles and animals are all done in Federico Bertolucci's rich, colorful style. The animals here are a bit more expressive than in the Love series, but these are wonderful paintings. The book finishes with information about the animals in the book. I thought the two-tone comic contrasted strangely with the full color comics, but it's a book for young animal lovers to read and enjoy.

I received a review copy of this graphic novel from Magnetic Press, Diamond Book Distributors, and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this graphic novel.

An extremely short book about the adventures of a couple of rudimentarily drawn animals flying around in a cardboard plane. After flying above maps for a while, they land in Africa, where it’s time for the squirrel—I think—to teach the puppy about the animals they see in the jungle. And bugs. And then they fly on to the next place. . .
If I have one complaint it’s that I couldn’t tell the two main animals apart, or even what species they were, if not told by the publicity blurb. The format is one comic-strip like area surrounded by colorful jungle vistas, which are the real highlights here, though I could have done without the life-sized tarantula! Better was the appearance by the pink Amazon dolphin–while they still exist–but what about piranhas? Yep, there they are. . .
The animal drawings are so gorgeous it’s almost a shame to use them in a book that only kids will be seeing. The banter is witty without ever seeming mean. The last few pages give more detail on the various animals.
The big thing here is that this is from the same guys who do the LOVE series, which explains why the artwork is so beautiful.

This is a very informative children's book.

The juxtaposition of the comic like characters with the gorgeous illustrations is a good one and I think this will interest a broad range of children.

The animals that the pair see in the forests of the world are varied and fun including gorillas and tarantulas and chameleons and at the back of the book there is a great resource of information about the animals that they visited which is perfect for the children that need to learn more or are purely inquisitive.

This would be a great addition to a home or class library.

I was definitely surprised by this book. I had thought it would be a simplistic toddler story but it is so much more than that. I love the combination of graphic novel/gorgeous wildlife drawings. It is also very informative and fun for children who are interested in learning about the variety of jungles in our world and the ecosystem. I also liked how they left a link for further information at the end. Highly recommended for elementary school age kids.

Received from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. Follow along as the 2 friends travel to several jungles to see the animals that live there. As I was reading, I was wishing there was some information about each of the animals, well the authors have added that information at the back of the book which is great as it doesn't drag the story out for the younger child. A lovely, fun, colourful adventure that would be great for all children.

I really enjoyed this book, is exactly what I would be looking for if I was purchasing a book! Little Pete is a curious puppy led into exciting new environments by his little buddy Eazel, a wily squirrel who loves to explore. They get to visit different countries and meet different animals en route - thoroughly enjoyable.

This book is a great balance of educational and fun. It pairs the traditional animal book with a comic panel that guides you through the world. Having the two cartoon "guides" was a nice way to break things up and introduce the facts in a more friendly fashion. Things aren't being thrown at the reader in a dry, witless manner. You're going on an adventure, after all!
