But truth and friendship will help Sydney finally live the life she’s chosen while loving the one she chose.

I love the subtle cover of One More Breath by Amber Garr. Sometimes, less is more.

I flipped between a 3 and 4 rating because there was nothing earth shattering in One More Breath by Amber Garr’s lovely story about characters overcoming obstacles to find their happy ever after. It is well written, flowing smoothly, allowing the characters to shine. I do find it easy to overcome obstacles (in novels) myself. I am happy to let the author take me where they will, sitting back and enjoying the story. We did have some danger and thrills along the way, but, like the cover, most times they were subtle, making the anticipation build, having me wonder when the bad would happen.

I love that One More Breath by Amber Garr is a series, The Georgia Girls Series. The Girls are fun, adventurous, loyal, and do not hesitate to come when one of them is in distress. I am eager to see where Amber will take them and who will be in the spotlight next. I have no idea when inspiration will strike or who will be whispering in Amber’s ear, but it has been a long time coming. How about it Girls?

I don't read a ton of NA, in fact, I rarely ever read them. But guys, this was a good one. So now I can say that I have two favorite NA books! The Sheridan Hall series, and this one.

In this book we follow Sydney as she leaves her town, friends, and abusive ex-boyfriend, Grayson, behind for a new job. She is the new live-in-nurse for Mrs. McNamara, except Mrs. McNamara doesn't want one. So while Sydney battles with Mrs. McNamara, she doesn't expect to meet Quinn, and she certainly doesn't expect Grayson to to find her.

Okay, I didn't think that I would like this book as much as I did! Let's start with the characters. While they weren't extremely developed, they were a lot of fun. Because in all honesty, when you have a shorter romance like this one the characters don't need to be exquisitely complex . But I was surprised by how much I ended up caring for some of the characters, especially Mrs. McNamara. While she was hard to warm up to, I ended up really liking her character by the end of the book.

This book had a surprising amount action! It started off like any normal NA romance, but then Grayson got involved. It was cool to read about Sydney's first relationship after her one with Grayson, and it was cool to read how he effected her relationship even after she broke up with him.

So overall I loved this book! This is a fun, fast read with a good bit of action and characters that readers can connect with. This is defiantly a book to read.

I received a copy of this book via Xpresso Book Tours in exchange for an honest review. All opinions in this review are my own.

Just Loved This Sweet Romance About Life!! Have you ever imagined what you would feel, if you only had one more breath? So what's a girl to do, when her abusive boyfriend, Greyson, almost kills her. She decided that this was not the life she wanted; she wanted to control her own life. Sydney decided to move away from Atlanta to become the nurse for Mrs. McNamara, a very wealthy 92 yr old woman suffering from cancer. Can she get away from him?

Little did she realize that by becoming a live-in nurse, she would become involved with family in-fighting between Jonas, Mrs. McNamara's son, and Quinn, her grandson. The two definitely did not agree about the family business or the arranged marriage of Quinn. The chemistry between Sydney and Quinn is very apparent to everyone in the household. Will anything happen between Quinn and Sydney? How does Mrs. McNamara react to all of this drama and her declining health? Any kind of relationship between Sydney and Quinn is thwarted by Mrs. McNamara and Jonas. I enjoyed this book very much. I liked the way the author described the scenes in the book so that the reader could almost become the character and feel the emotions that the character was feeling. I did think that there should have been more time that transpired before Sydney and Quinn interacted together. I also liked the information regarding abusive relationships, the awareness of what to look for, and what can be done. The last few pages are really great. It all sums it up to "what would you do, if you had one more breath?" But I won't spoil it for you! Just read the book. You won't be disappointed. Reviewed by Hot Box Reviews on FB. ONE MORE BREATH
by Amber Garr

This sweet, emotion grabbing book is a must read. Sydney an abused, confused young woman starts her life over after leaving her abusive ex by moving away to a new town only to find out sometimes you have to face the past and say not today. Quinn so wants to break away from the family control especially his grandmothers never realizing how much she loved him and saw in him the potential to succeed in life. Sydney and Quinn meet when Sydney (a nurse) goes to care for his grandmother who i absolutely loved as she is quite the spitfire in her last days. You really see Quinn and Sydney have the relationship all women want the sweet, loving, and worth fighting for kind. This book will make you laugh, cry and have you cheering for this couple as they face and overcome the twist and turns that life has to throw at them.

This might be the first book by this author that I've read but I know I will be reading more of her work!
Sydney is a nurse who specialises in the elderly. Wanting to get away from an unhealthy relationship she accepts a live in position with a dying cancer victim.
Quinn is the grandson of this patient and it's obvious things are strained in the family. He enjoys Sydney's company immensely.
This love story is not all smooth sailing however the bumpy ride is very interesting and makes for a great story. The full gambit of emotions are experienced by the characters but mainly Sydney- in whose POV this story is written.
Great character and setting details make it easy to feel like you are apart of the story. This is a fast paced, easy to read story I can totally recommend.

Considering the darker relationship elements which are touched upon in this book, it is a surprisingly light read. Because the build up to the departure is dealt with in hindsight, it perhaps lacks a bit of the harder edge that would have added some extra depth to the narrative.

However, the author did a really good job with the character development. They were interesting and the interactions at all levels were realistic and believable.

Overall, I would say that this was a decent story. It perhaps didn't set the pages alight for me, but I felt a connection with the characters which enhanced my enjoyment of the novel.

I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about this book after reading quite a lot of dark fiction recently I was a little bit burnt out but despite the darker tones at the beginning of this story it wasn't as dark as I had expected which made it a refreshing read

The author was very clever with her character building in that she didn't over egg it! There's just enough to build a feeling around each character but not so much it distracts from the main theme of the story

It is a fast paced read with plenty of suspense and a whole dose of romance! I think once you've started you will struggle to put it down and as I've said many times before, for me, that's always a sign of a good book!

When escape is the only way to survive. When survival is not enough. When the past comes back to haunt your every waking step. Sydney Westbrook has lived her life in fear long enough. Now she takes a stand and decides its best to get away. She makes a new life with a new job away from all that she knows and loves. But that was not enough to get her away from her obsessed and abusive ex.

Sydney was a young woman that had to make difficult choices for her life. She was working to make her world better. With the new job with a family that was away from her friends and family things were looking forward. That was until Brandon decided to step back into her life. Violence against women is not a favorite of mine but it was vital to telling Sydney’s story. She had begun to feel a kinship with the family she was living with. Mainly Quinn until things around her started to be revealed. She had to stand on her own feet. She had to be clear on all her action and where she wanted to go in life. She did this a so much more.

This was my first read from Garr and I look forward to more of the Georgia Girls series.

What a great book! This book has a great new adult foundation with a side of danger.
There is so much character development in this book that I was quite surprised. It was easy to connect with Sydney and Quinn and even Greyson, even though he’s a baddie. Mrs. McNamara was kind of a sad situation, as well.
The writing is great, easy to read and flows well. I found myself thinking “just one more page” and the next thing I know, it’s the middle of the night.
A great read and I love that I have discovered a new author!

WOW

I loved this book. First of all, it takes place in Savannah, GA. Quinn and Sydney had chemistry from their first meeting.

Sydney is a nurse that came to live with his grandmother who was 92 and dying of cancer. Mrs. McNamara is from a wealthy family. Sydney has a psycho ex who has found her in Savannah and is stalking her.

Lots of fun, mystery, love, family, and happiness. I highly reading this book!

I felt the writing portrayed Sydney much younger than her twenty-five years. I found it annoying because the instead of saying 'he' or' she', Sydney was repeated in each sentence. The flow was not fluid. I liked the characters of Sydney and Quinn. She was strong and intelligent.
The narrator was ok. I don’t think she was a good fit.

Well written

Running away from an abusive ex-boyfriend, Sydney leaves Atlanta to become a live-in nurse to a nightmare of an old lady. Maybe not the best idea to develop a romance w/ her client's grandson!

I really wasn't sure what to expect while reading One More Breath. I have loved Amber Garr's writing in the past but it was always paranormal, so I wasn't sure what was in store with this one. Amber Garr did not disappoint. One More Breath was an emotional roller coaster full of so much drama. I felt like I could relate to Sydney's story a little which made it that more intense. I love Quinn's character straight from the start, although his family are a bit shady, he seems a lot more genuine and doesn't follow the status quo. One More Breath is officially my favorite book by Amber Garr and def one I recommend reading.

My Review
The book was pretty good I really loved Sydney and her love interest Quinn. And Sydney's ex was such an abusive ass.  I really don't usually read these types of books as much as I use too.
I really didn't care for Quinn's father at all, he didn't care about what his son wanted. He just wanted to control his son, at least that's how I feel about that subject.
I liked Quinn's Grandma more towards the end of the book. The book had romance, action, and adventure. I really loved how the book end. I would definitely recommend this book to other individuals.

Sad, beautiful but simply lovely. What Quinn and Sydney go through to be together are all those and more. For Quinn his family obligations are his noose. Sydney a controlling ex.

Quinn is a great guy. Loves his grandma but has a tough time with his family. they have expectations that aren’t his. Lofty concepts that are outdated and I for one was happy for what Tandy did. You go girl. Quinn was smart, talented, loving, attentive and caring. He was also loyal. His situation hurts the heart but seeing him with Sydney and how he vowed to fight was awesome. He was what Sydney needed-a rock who would understand and respect her while loving her and supporting all she needed and wanted.

Sydney was stronger than she thought. She got out of a toxic situation and it didn’t blacken her heart. Instead I think it opened her more for others. She was still a caring and kind nurse but she was also more caring with others. She understood pain, loneliness and fear. When she met Quinn you could see the instant connection. They were drawn to each other like glue. And seeing them struggle and fight to be together while at times disheartening was also heartwarming. They went through alot to be together and get approval. Especially from the tough cookie that is his grandmother-the woman who brought them together albeit under sad circumstances.

This is a heart warming and loving story. The characters have you enraptured with their tale and desire to survive, thrive and love one another. Seeing the obstacles in their way and how they overcame them was heart warming and has you smile. how Amber fought one more breath to come back and fight for herself and Quinn. And how he fought to be with her as well. This is their wonderful tale that will warm your heart.

I generously received this ARC from Xpresso Book Tours in exchange for an honest review...

I thoroughly enjoyed the concept of this book and was fascinated by the darker elements included. This is the first book that I've been fortunate enough to read from this author, but I do plan on reading the rest of the books in this series when they are released. Although this book does deal with some dark themes, it was a surprisingly lighthearted read.

One More Breath takes us through a rollercoaster of events throughout the entire book and leaves the readers wanting more. We are first introduced to Sydney Westbrook who is on a journey of self-discovery after fleeing from her abusive ex-boyfriend, who has tried to kill her countless times in the past. She's leaving everything behind --- her home, her friends and the life she could have had --- to start a new life. Her instant attraction and connection with Quinn, Mrs. McNamara grandson, is evident, but will people stand in the way of their happiness? Find out by picking up a copy of the book today!

Initially, this book will make you think of heavy drama because of the premise of having an abusive boyfriend and the leading character left that life to start a new one. After reading a few pages, it is surprisingly an engaging light read. As the blurb says, leaving a life with an abusive ex-boyfriend, Sydney started a new life as a live-in nurse after graduating from college, with the sinister 92-year-old Mrs. McNamara who resents having her there. As one living with the family. She cannot help but be a witness between family's arguments from her patient's son, Jonas, and grandson, Quinn. Quinn is near her age and immediately felt their chemistry when they met. But since their family values the social status, Quinn is arranged to be married to a woman from a prominent family. Sydney didn't expect to develop feelings for Quinn and she definitely didn't expect for Grayson to find her. Yes. Grayson is her abusive ex-boyfriend who really made an effort to find her. And the plot thickens....

This book was intense to say the least. One More Breath follows Sydney as she is making the changes she needs to in order to get away from her extremely abusive ex-boyfriend, Greyson. Sydney moves to another city and takes a job as a live-in nurse for a rich southern family. Sydney is struggling to connect with the family until she meet the grandson of her client, Quinn. Sydeny and Quinn are drawn together, however, Quinn has a lot of family expectations… and they expect a lot more then Sydney.

I would warn you that if crazy abusive boyfriends is a trigger for you, that you not read this book.

I enjoyed this book quite a bit, as I said it was a very intense read, I’ve read books with abusive ex’s before but this one takes the award for the worst. The abuse in this book is serious, and real, and extremely frightening. However with that aside, this is a story of a young woman coming into her own and learning how to stand up for herself. Sydney is learning how to live on her own and how to reconnect with people who don’t mean to harm you. I think that this book does well with they way Sydney’s mental state is after leaving Greyson. Quinn is such a good guy, and he cares enormously for Sydney, but he is struggling with how to come to terms with what he wants, versus what his family wants. While both main characters are intriguing, I think my favorite characters in this book are the supporting ones… I LOVED Mr. Cobb and his son Eli, I also loved Sydney’s friends, and maybe Mrs. McNamara just a little. They were all written so well and had so much personality and spunk, which I think sometimes authors avoid in supporting characters.

Overall, this was an enjoyable read with quite a bit of heart and emotion. I would highly recommend checking this one out.

This is my first book by Amber Garr - the blurb drew me in, it looked like a different and interesting read, and I was very pleasantly surprised just how much I enjoyed this!

Sydney has had enough. She has almost been killed by her abusive boyfriend Grayson and needs to start afresh, away from him, but this also means moving away from her 2 friends who she lives with and are her support. She is a specialist nurse and cares for dying patients, and so gets a new job in another state to look after a very wealthy 92 yr old woman suffering from cancer.

But whilst there Sydney gets caught up in an old family feud between her son Jonas and her grandson Quinn, who they are trying to arrange a marriage for. But the chemistry between Quinn and Sydney is obvious to everyone in the household.

I loved Sydney and how determined she was to make a new start for herself after suffering from years of abuse, whilst under her brave facade still suffered from panic attacks from various triggers. Quinn is a lovable hero, very different from the rest of his family, but stuck working for the family business whilst his father and grandmother try to marry him off to a wealthy family, but Quinn is his own man, and doesn't want this, but can't get this through to them.

This is a great story told from Sydney's POV, quite emotional at times dealing with a dying patient, mental and physical abuse, and then the love of a sweet and understanding man, promised to another woman - quite a powerful combination. A good read I would definitely recommend.

Well what can I say I couldn't put this book down it had me gripped from the first word

Sydney is moving from Atlanta to go and work as a live in nurse for a family who are rich and have a lot of power in the community and she is going because of the 3 years that got took from her because of her ex greyson nearly killing her.

She is looking after Caroline mcNamara's who is 92 and has had cancer 6 times. Caroline runs the family but her days are getting shorter as the doctors can't do anything for her.

After meeting carolines grandson quinn she feels so connected to after finding out he is going to be married to someone else Sydney is angry at him for not telling her.

Mrs McNamara tells Sydney she gets one last night with Quinn after that they have to go separate ways.

Will greyson leave Sydney alone or will he kill them both? Will Quinn stand up to his family and say that he loves Sydney?

It would be nice to read Quinn's point of view as this was all Sydney that was putting the story across will there be another book?

I am giving this 5/5 if I could I would give the rating a lot more it's always nice when you get a book like this which has excitement, angry, happy and tears all rolled into one read this amazing book you won't be able to put it down.

Wow.

To be honest, I wasn't expecting this, by this, I meant the climactic ending.

If there's one word I could use to describe this book, it would be inspirational.

This was my first Amber Garr's book, but I was thoroughly impressed with the writing style and the unfolding of events that I know I will be keeping a lookout on the author's future works.

To be brief, One More Breath tells the story of a young and courageous woman, Sydney on her quest for self-discovery after escaping her abusive relationship with her ex. Starting a new job at a new place seemed like the good way to go, and then Quinn happened. But just when she thought she could finally lead the life she dreamed of, her past caught up with her present and she finds herself once again at the mercy of the same hands that destroyed her. But will she survive it the second time?

With such a heavy tune to the blurb, I was surprised that it was quite a light read, at least in the first part. The turn of events still left me breathless and at the edge of my seat, and because of that, I gave this book a solid 4 stars rating. I enjoyed the pace of the story and the characters were all well developed (including strict old Mrs. McNamara), so yes, I am recommending this book to all of you!

This is the first book I have read by Amber Garr and I am sure I won't be the last. This book is some what of an emotional roller coaster with suspense and a love story combined. There is a lot that happens in the book and I was not sure that Ms Garr was going to bring all to a conclusion without having to have a cliffhanger and continue in a second book, but she did not disappoint me. I found the characters and story line well developed and look forward to the next book in this series. I recommend this intriguing book.

This was a great story about taking life by the horns and doing what feels right. Sydney hasn't had a pleasant life with a abusive boyfriend so she decides to get away to start over by taking a job as a nurse who takes care of a 92 year old woman but she did not realize that she would be in the middle of family affairs, but the chemistry between her and Quinn is hot but Quinn's path is mapped out but it's not how he wants it. Can Sydney and Quinn survive their wants?
