Golden Knights roast Sharks with blown lead joke

Michelle R. Martinelli

The Vegas Golden Knights haven't even played their first game in the NHL, but weeks before the beginning of the preseason, their Twitter game is looking strong.

Seemingly unprovoked, the San Jose Sharks' Twitter account took a shot at the expansion team, pointing to the hot summer weather that somehow gives them a leg up on the desert team.

The Knights didn't waste much time responding and took a hilariously savage shot at the Sharks, making fun of their famous blown lead during the 2014 playoffs. San Jose was up 3-0 in the first-round series against the L.A. Kings and was eventually eliminated. They became only the fourth team in NHL history to lose a 3-0 playoff lead, and this is just brutal.

While no one really knows how the Knights will handle themselves in their first NHL season, this should serve as a cautionary tale not to mess with them on Twitter.

And of course, hockey fans had their own fun with this strange weather burn too.
