Why you will never see a fat flight attendant?

Have you ever seen a fat flight attendant?

Tall, slender and poised perfection - airline staff can be said to be just like they are in the movies.

One of the reason for this is because, according to flight attendant Beth Windsor, they are not allowed to gain weight.

Beth has been a flight attendant for four years and in that time she has worked with several of the world¹s leading airlines, including British Airways.

Flight attendant Beth Windsor reveals that airline staff are NOT allowed to gain weight

The flight attendant revealed some of airlines best secrets when it comes to why staff always look their best.

Airlines apparently require their staff to stay in shape and for that reason, will only give them one uniform.

She told The Telegraph: “Once you¹re issued with a uniform, that’s it, you can’t change it for a size bigger if you find you’ve put on a few pounds.

“The airline will give you one month to lose the weight - otherwise you will be put on a weight management programme.”

Airline staff also have strict grooming standards

Many airlines will use Body Mass Index (BMI) to monitor their employees weight and appearance.

Last year, Air India warned 600 of its crew to lose weight within six months and if they didn’t, they risked being taken off flights.

But it’s not just the weight that ensures airline staff are immaculate.

In fact, Beth reveals that the grooming standards for flight attendants are also very strict.

She said: “Skirts can¹t go above the knee, heels must not be higher than three inches, lipstick has to be a certain shade of red and constantly applied, and nails must always be manicured with only pink, red or French polish.

“Some airlines have also been known to check the colour of your bra before a flight, so being on your best beauty behaviour is a must.”

The story comes after a flight attendant dressed up as a fiery Samsung Galaxy 7 for halloween.

A Southwest Airlines air hostess has become an internet sensation after her offbeat choice for the Day of the Dead.
