After having popped up at the Bluetooth SIG, the device known as BBD100-1 or perhaps more commonly known as 'Krypton' has now also swung by the Wi-Fi Alliance for certification. As always, the certification documentation doesn't really highlight many details outside of noting that there are at least four different SKU's with possibly six in total (BBD100-1, BBD100-2, BBD100-3, BBD100-6) and that they're all running Android Nougat with the standard support for 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz Wi-Fi, but it's something.
From the looks of it, they've already done quite a few hardware revisions as well, so all the certification really tells is that the device is progressing through the appropriate channels. Of course, when you start putting together the pieces with the rumors, the certifications, and couple them with the news coming out of IFA that BlackBerry Mobile has something coming in October, well, it all starts to add up. A reminder for those who may have missed the rumors of what 'Krypton' could be:
- All touch
- Snapdragon 625 (or newer 626) processor
- Full HD 1920X1080 display
- 4GB of RAM
- 4000mAh Battery
- Home button with built-in fingerprint scanner
In the end, we're still left with the rumors and speculation surrounding the 'Krypton' but the rumors and speculation are a part of the fun when it comes to a new device release.
