The Bennett Family #4

Your Inescapable Love

Rate this book
*A sizzling friends-to-lovers romance from a USA TODAY BESTSELLING Author*
*This book is a standalone. Each book in The Bennett Family series will follow a different couple.*

Max Bennett is a successful man. His analytical mind has taken his family’s company to the next level. Outside the office, Max transforms from the serious business man into someone who is carefree and fun. He’s happy with his life and doesn’t intend to change it, even though his mother keeps asking for more grandchildren. Max loves being an uncle, and plans to spoil his nieces rotten.

But when a chance encounter reunites him with Emilia, his childhood best friend, he starts questioning everything. The girl he once knew has grown into a sensual woman with a smile he can’t get out of his mind.

Taking care of her sick grandmother, Emilia Campbell has a lot on her plate. Still, she faces everything with a positive attitude. When the childhood friend she hero-worshipped steps into her physical therapy clinic, she is over the moon. Max is every bit the troublemaker she remembers, only now he has a body to drool over and a smile to melt her panties. Not that she intends to do the former, or let the latter happen.

They are both determined not to cross the boundaries of friendship…at first. But as they spend more time together, they form an undeniable bond and their flirty banter spirals out of control.

Max knows Emilia is off-limits, but that only makes her more tempting. Besides, Max was never one to back away from a challenge.

When their chemistry becomes too much to resist and they inevitably give in to temptation, will they risk losing their friendship or will Max and Emilia find true love?

*This read is recommended for ages 18+ due to mature content.

Layla Hagen is back at it again and this time another Bennett sibling is off the single market. I guess Tony Bennett had it right all along when he sang the infamous line “I left my heart in San Francisco” because fate would be on Max Bennett side as he is reunited with his childhood best friend, Emilia.

Emilia never forgot the boy who owned her heart and became her first real best friend, Max Bennett. When her grandmother and her moved to a new town, Max befriend Emilia right away when she accidentally lost the keys to her house when she was nine years old. And ever since then, Max and Emilia were inseparable that is until Emilia had to move once again. Fast forward to the present, Emilia is now a physical therapist and guess who happens to show up as a patient? That’s right, Max.

 photo YourInescapableLove_zpsew69pggf.png

Right away, Max and Emilia didn’t waste any time catching up with each other. They easily fell into a friendship that was blurred with a hint of flirtation. As much as they were sexually attracted to one another, Max tried to keep their friendship in check because he didn’t want to hurt Emilia. But the longer they spent together, Max soon realizes that this thing between Emilia and him won’t be going away. So what happens when Max and Emilia finally acts on their attraction to one another? Will Max be able to show Emilia that he will do anything for her and cherish her heart?

Layla Hagen has no problems in getting readers like myself addicted to this family themed series. I absolutely adore each and everyone of the sibling as they are all different and unique and yet have one thing in common, they are fiercely loyal to one another. And in the case of Max Bennett, he just needed the right kind of push to finally see and grab hold of the love that has been staring right at him. So if you are a fan of friends to lovers trope with a second chance aspect thrown into the mix, then this sweet and inescapable love story is the book for you.

Beautiful and romantic best friends to lovers story, brought to you by the talented pen of USA Today Best selling author Layla Hagen. She's ready to dazzle us again with more charm and passion, from another one of The Bennett brothers, and I personally couldn't get enough.

 photo 8F997125-8A2D-49D3-B859-D348AE13A124_zpsss3u0kuo.jpg

Max Bennett knows about business; his killer instincts and smart logic have help contribute tremendously to the success of the family business. Max is not all about business though, he loves spending time with his family and having fun, but love is not really on his radar.

When Max runs into his long, lost childhood best friend, Emilia Campbell he is so happy, but he never expected her to turn into such a beautiful and alluring woman, and having only, just a friendship with her will prove to be difficult.

Emilia can't believe that the gorgeous guy in front of her is her best friend Max. Max Bennett and his family used to be such a big part of Emilia's life growing up, always showing her love and support, and she had been devastated to loose them all after her grandmother and her grandm had to move away.

Emilia and Max have tons to catch up on and he wastes no time inviting her out, but Emilia's life is very complicated. Between having to care for her sick grandmother and working long hours as a physical therapist, she barely has time for anything else. Plus, Emilia's body's reaction to Max's presence is turning out to be dangerous, because her heart is not ready to have those feelings again, after being broken by her ex.

 photo 7F1AFFAA-B22E-4510-B708-B618C31C7C73_zps27y9aoly.jpg

Max and Emilia acknowledge that they have chemistry and attraction for each other, but they decide to just stay friends. Yeah right??? Who could resist a Bennett brother? No-one, that's who...

Once these two get together the passion burns high. Max will caress with his hands every part of Emilia's body, and claim her whole heart with his charming and sweets ways. Max will discover that more than a best friend, she has been the girl that has owned his heart since he was only a boy.

This series is becoming one of my absolute favorites. I love the humor, the romance and the sweet nature of all these characters, that make it impossible not to smile like a fool as you read about their stories. Every book is about a different family member, each story unique but always giving the reader that same feeling of utter enjoyment.

A MUST READ!!!

Friends to Lovers at it’s finest!

Layla Hagen writes feel good romance. When I curl up with one of her books, it’s like curling up with an old friend. This one more so, because it’s a best friends to lovers romance.

Max Bennett and Emilia Campbell grew up together and were best friends from the day they met until she had to move away unexpectedly. When they reunite years later, their unexpected attraction comes to the surface.

Emilia believes her responsibilities and their long-standing friendship is paramount, so she fights the attraction. Max wants her and knows she wants him. He plans to claim her and take care of all her needs, regardless of her opposition.

I enjoyed the characters, trope, and family dynamic of the story. The audiobook is narrated by Lidia Dornet and Sebastian York The story is super cute and sexy and the narration perfectly matches it. I adore both these narrators and this performance nothing short of perfect! Another win from Layla Hagen! Highly recommended.

I've been reading author Layla Hagen's novels for a while now and have had a love and adorment for the Bennett Family. Nothing screams "family" like them.

Out of the series so far, this story was one of my top favorites. I'm a complete sucker from friends to romance novels, but I feel this one brings not your typical cliched love story.

What I like about this series is that there is always an element of love, family, friendship, growth, camaraderie, and sacrifice within each novel. Your Inescapable Love is another great example as it highlights a two young individuals who formed a bond and never forgotten each other now coming together and beginning a new chapter in their lives. I loved the banter between these two as it was so effortless and sizzling, and yet you could feel their longing for the other.

Another wonderful read!!

I thoroughly enjoyed Max and Emilia's story in Your Inescapable Love. Meeting as children, Max became the friend that Emilia desperately needed. Years later they reconnect as adults and there's more there than a rediscovered friendship - there's off-the-charts chemistry. Neither Max nor Emilia are looking for a relationship but the time they spend together has them both rethinking that.

Max and Emilia are such likable characters. Emilia has a lot on her plate working as a physical therapist and also caring for the grandmother who raised her who now has Alzheimer's. She's independent and a hard worker but she's gun shy about relationships after her fiance dumped her three weeks before their wedding date. Max is a success in business but has always sworn off relationships in favor of casual flings with no strings attached. He is equal parts cocky and charming and I loved his desire to try to help Emilia and ease some of her burden.

I really enjoyed the secondary characters, especially the other members of the Bennett family. Max comes from a big family and I loved their interactions. If I had one quibble with the book it would some of the language that seemed so out of place. I have zero issue with profanity or dirty talk but some of it here felt so at odds with the overall tone of the book. It ended up seeming coarse and jarring.

Your Inescapable Love was a wonderful contemporary romance that left me wanting to go back and read the previous books in the series. That being said, even though this is the fourth book in the Bennett series, I had no issue reading it as a stand alone.

Layla Hagen does it again with the fourth book in the Bennett Family Series, “Your Inescapable Love”. Each time I read a new book within this series I wonder how it can be as good as the previous books. Amazingly enough it always is. I love this series. The dynamics between the family members is wonderful and just keeps getting better. I love each and every character and their individuality and closeness. What I wouldn’t give to meet a Bennett man!
This book is about Max Bennett and his journey of finding love with his long time best friend Emilia who he hasn’t seen in years. The transition from friends to lovers is moving and you want the best for these two characters. I don’t like spoilers so I advise you to just read this book and all previous books in this series if you haven’t already. You won’t be disappointed. The characters are well developed and have a sizzling chemistry. The story flows beautifully and keeps you captivated until the last page is turned. I love that Max is an identical twin. The humor with Max and his twin Christopher is so much fun. I can’t wait until Christopher’s story.
Thank you Layla for another wonderful journey with the Bennett family.

‘I love my life. Some days it’s hard, some days it’s downright painful, but what the heck? I have two great friends, my Grams, and this piece of heaven I can call home. And I don’t want to count my chickens before they hatch, but the childhood friend I’ve missed like crazy for years might just pop up in my life again. If that’s not a sign of great luck, I don’t know what is.’ ~Emilia

Now that’s what I call having a positive attitude. I admired Emilia’s strength so much. The seriousness of Emilia’s grandmother’s condition was heartbreaking, and made me think frequently how quickly life can get confusing, scary, and stressful. Emilia had already experienced tragedy early on in life. Luckily, she had her Grams and her neighbor, Max, and his big loving family. I loved the flashbacks that revealed how she and Max were there for each other as young kids during a time when she most needed a friend.

Unfortunately, Emilia and her Grams moved away, and she and Max didn't keep in touch at all. Thanks to a dare, Max was in need of physical therapy and ended up as Emilia's client. It was great to see adult Emilia and Max reconnect and fall in love. Their teasing and sexy flirting was highly entertaining. And I loved Max’s determination to be her friend again and eventually her supportive lover as well.

‘One thing became clear to me after seeing my father again. Grams said blood is blood, but blood isn’t necessarily family. Family is love and support, and Grams and I have found our family with this loud and meddling clan.’ ~Emilia

Emilia’s observation is so freaking true! I enjoyed being in Emilia’s shoes as an honorary Bennett tremendously. Why oh why couldn’t my real life family be in the same zip code of awesome as Max’s family?

The epilogue reveals which of Max’s siblings will be next to fall in love, and I’ll definitely be ready to virtually experience what it means to fall in love with a Bennett again.

This was too adorable for words. I loved Max and Emilia so much. Practically no angst, no characters being assholes. Just two adorable people falling for each. Right up my alley and I MUST read more from this series.

Merged review:

I was perusing my library's Hoopla site, looking for a new audiobook. I was in the mood for the fantastic narrator Sebastian York, so I searched his name and was looking at books he narrated. And one of those was Your Inescapable Love by Layla Hagen. It was a book I had never really heard of, but the premise looked interesting, so I borrowed it. And you guys, I liked this book so much. Your Inescapable Love combined with Run to Ground by Katie Ruggle, finally pushed my out of my reading slump and I am so damn happy about it.
What's the Story:
Your Inescapable Love is about Max Bennett, who is part of a huge family (he has 8 other siblings) and works for his family's successful Jewelry company. When Max was a kid he was best friends with Emilia Campbell, but when she was around 13 she moved away. Years later, who should he run into again? Emilia! They are so happy to finally see each other again, but they also can't deny their attraction to each other. But Emilia has some issues, and a lot on her plate.
What I Liked:

Max was such a sweetheart. I have talked before how I really struggle with asshole heroes, and Max was totally the opposite. He's a hard worker, kind, sweet, loves his large and interfering family, and willing to help Emilia out anyway he can. Oh, and he's gorgeous. What's not to love?
Emilia was wonderful, too. Her mother passed away when she was a little girl, and she was raised by her grandmother. But her grandmother has Alzheimer's and requires a lot of extra care. Emilia wants her grandmother to stay with her, and while she does have a nurse to help when she's working, it's still a lot of stress taking care of her grandmother. But she does it, because she loves her, and that made me love Emilia.
The romance was sweet and adorable, and practically angst free! I loved it. At first Emilia and Max were a little hesitant to start something romantic because they didn't want to ruin their renewed friendship, but they realized that they couldn't not see how things went. It was adorable. I loved them together so much.
Max's huge Bennett family was amazing. His brothers and sisters love to get nosy on each other's lives, and it was adorable. I loved how they adopted Emilia into the family.
Your Inescapable Love is narrated by two people: Sebastian York and Lidia Dornet. Lidia Dornet was a fine narrator, but of course, Sebastian York stole the show.

Things I Struggled With:

Honestly, not much. I wish there were more chapters narrated by Sebastian York, because he is AMAZING.
When we see Max and Emilia meet as children, I didn't really think child would act that way. But that didn't bother me much.

Final Thoughts
Your Inescapable Love by Layla Hagen is perfect when you want a sweet, adorable, low angst romance. The audiobook is particularly wonderful. It actually reminds me quite a bit of Bella Andre's Sullivan series, which is never a bad thing. This review was originally posted on Quinn's Book Nook

I'm brand new to Layla Hagen, so this is my first Bennett family romance & I have to say I totally loved it. It was sweet & seductive, with some fantastic laugh out loud moments, some achy heart moments & some pulse racing smexy time moments that totally left me needing a Max Bennett in my life!

Max & Emilia became best friends at the age of 9, he was her hero & she was the girl he wanted to make smile forever. Time & circumstances pulled them apart a few years later when Emilia had to move with her Grandma, but they never forgot each other. Roll on a good few years & the pair end up meeting again, when Emilia becomes Max's physical therapist & boy oh boy do the sparks fly.

As kids their bond was unbreakable, as adults their primal urges have intensified & you can physically feel the sexual undercurrent that burns between them. Their flirting & banter is so bloody funny & real, I couldn't help laughing out loud. They both know how to press each others buttons, but it is so natural between them, that my heart didn't stop smiling from start to finish..

Both have lives they don't want to disrupt. Emilia has caring for her sick grandma & Max is head of Negotiations for the family business. They both value their friendship to much to risk losing it, especially as they've only just found each other again - but you can't fight what the heart wants.. Never mind what the Emilia Radar is after!!

Their entire journey was incredibly sweet. I loved the fact their was no angst round every corner & that actually these 2 friends to lovers were genuinely loving, caring & protective of each other. Like all friends to lovers, its a funny old journey until the light bulb moment flashes & they realise they cant fight their feelings any longer. Layla's development of these characters was really well paced through the entire story & I loved the chemistry that grew between them. I'm a huge fan of dual POV & it was great getting inside of Max's brain to see what made that man tick lol.

As for the Bennett's - I loved the ones I met for the first time during this book & I cant wait to back read & catch up with them all. A really sweet romance !!

Favorite Quotes:

I need to fill my free time with something. Judging and gossiping fit the bill.

You also haven't had much luck with men. I could be cocky and say that it's a sign you had to wait for me, but I don't want to get ahead of myself.

Girl, I'm jealous. Make sure you tap that as often as possible. There comes a time when you'll only be able to do it as often as your arthritis allows you to.

It's different now Max. We're dating. You're supposed to think I fart rainbows and never have morning breath.

I have an Emilia sensor. Goes off whenever you're nearby.

My Review:

Reading works by the talented scribe known as Layla Hagen is a reward I give myself when I have earned a treat or feel in need of respite from reading books filled with conflict, angst, and tension. I eagerly await the arrival of her new books with the greed of an only child at Christmas waiting for Santa. Your Inescapable Love is currently my favorite Layla Hagen book ever, and her best work to date. The storyline was pleasantly entertaining and the writing was incredibly hot and deliciously sweet. I adore Ms. Hagen's feisty heroines and sexy yet tender alpha men. Emilia and Max were childhood friends who reunited nineteen years later as adults and totally adorable as a couple. I relished their witty banter and flirty exchanges. Written from a dual POV, it was breathtakingly sensual, endearingly sweet, and totally delightful.

“In this moment, nothing else exists except this woman. I need more of her. I want more–everything.”

“I want to be his. I want ot know what it’s like to be loved by him.”

Your Inescapable Love is the fourth story in The Bennett Family Series, but it can totally be read as a stand-alone novel. Told from dual points of view, Your Inescapable Love follows the story of Max and Emilia. From the moment I opened their book, I could not put it down. Emilia has always had a soft spot for Max. He became her hero at a young age, and they quickly became best friends. When Emilia was forced to move away at 13, the two lost touch, but they never forgot one another. Many years later, Max and Emilia are reunited. At first the two try to pick up with their friendship, right where they left off. But, so much time has passed, and the two have changed (for the better) in so many ways. Max and Emilia still care deeply for one another, but their feelings too have changed. Emilia’s life has been anything but easy and she is no stranger to heartache. Will Max be the one to finally bring her back to life and show her the love that she’s always needed??

I absolutely adored this book. I fell in love with the characters and their story almost instantly. Max and Emilia’s story was well written and is exactly what a good friends to lovers romance should be. This story was filled with romance, friendship and some wonderful sexy times. Max was a wonderful alpha male and he brought Emilia back to life. One of the things that I appreciated about Max and Emilia’s story was that for the most part, it was light on the drama. Their story was for the most part a straight forward beautiful romance and I just loved every second of it.

Your Inescapable Love is a fantastic addition to this series. Layla Hagen is quickly becoming one of my go-to authors for swoon-worthy romances with sexy alpha males. I can not wait to get my hands on the next book in this series and I can not wait to see which Bennett family member will fall next!

Max Bennett and Emilia Campbell’s story was the stuff of dreams. This charming and sweet story pulled me in from the first page. I enjoyed Layla Hagen’s engaging writing style and storytelling. The Bennett siblings are simply irresistible, they are genuine characters and have a strong sense of family. Max and Emilia were childhood friends and partners in crime, until Emilia and her grandmother moved to another state. Reuniting with her old friend is Emilia’s dream come true. She has a lot on her plate, though, with her full-time job and her ailing grandmother. Max’s large, close-knit and affluent family stands in contrast to Emilia’s situation.

Max has been successful in his professional life, working for his family’s company, but he never was in a relationship. He is confident, careless, charming and yet cocky. I loved Emilia and Max’s interactions and easy banter. Although they have a lot of catching up to do, they have a natural affinity and everything felt right between them. Max is very protective of Emilia. She is insecure, vulnerable and has emotional baggage she still needs to get over. He is convinced he can’t offer her more than friendship, though, but being friend with a grown-up Emilia is a trying challenge. She is always on his mind and he can’t deny he is attracted to her. They had this special connection which stemmed from their common past, and I loved that it felt real.

This story was so charming, fun and gorgeously romantic! There was no unnecessary drama and lots of fantastic supporting characters. The Bennett family is as tight-knit as ever and I can’t wait for the next installment in this great series. If you are looking for a feel good and sweet story that will tug at your heartstrings, this book is perfect for you.

4.5 I'm in love Stars!! Layla has once again swooned me with the Bennett family.
Emilia has known Max Bennett since she was a 9 year old shy girl locked out of her grandmas house. He was her best friend for years and then she moved away. She became a physical therapist, she loves/cares for her grandma whom has Alzheimer's, she was left by her fiancé 3 weeks before the wedding and the list of abandonment goes on... Now so many years later in walks Max Bennett and boy did he fill out well, but can she keep their relationship completely platonic and professional?!?!
Max doesn't do long term, commitment, marriage...really he doesn't do girlfriends. But taking one look at Emilia all grown up has him singing a different tune. Can he get past his fear of commitment?!?!

I've never doubted the Bennett family. I love all the alpha male vibes going on in this book. My favorite parts are when Max speaks about the twins and then when he does the twin prank. Omg so yummy!! Back to the main couple...I love these two together...childhood friends to lovers! The stories from their childhood are super cute and funny. Max is one hell of a man (a big perv but in a cute and sexy way)!! I've always enjoyed Max and it was nice to see this side of him. Alice is awesome too!! Another very well written book with extraordinary character development. I never want this family to stop I love these books so much! If you haven't guessed by now I LOVE everything about these books (I think I said love a million times. Hahaha)! These series is a must read...

I liked this second-chance story. Max and Emilia were best friends when they were younger but then Emilia moved away when they were teenagers. Now 20 years later, a chance encounter reunites them. What will happen when they connect once again?

I liked that there was more to these two characters. They had history together and I enjoyed reading about how close they were and what they meant to each other. Having that extra background just made me feel their connection. I loved whenever they were together. It was fun, flirty, sweet, and sexy. Max and Emilia together was sizzling. I just really liked these two and their story. Of course, I enjoyed the time we got with the Bennett family. They are one crazy but fun bunch. Seeing the previous couples and how they were doing was such a treat. I can’t wait for more in the series and reading about the remaining siblings. This was a nice good read.

4.5* Friends to Lovers Stars

I received an ARC from Layla in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!

I was very excited to read about Max and his chance to find love and settle down. Who would have thought it would be from a long lost best friend. The chemistry between Max and Emilia was sizzling. It was a well thought out story and I enjoyed catching up with the other Bennett siblings too.

Although each book is about finding love for the Bennett siblings each story is so individual and sexy as hell.

I absolutely love this series and you cannot help but fall in love over and over with this amazing family.

This prankster has met his match

Your Inescapable Love
Bennett Family book 4
Layla Hagen
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

There is something to be said about childhood best friends who find themselves after many years, your Inescapable Love is this perfect story of reunited love. When Max hurts himself in a skydiving accident and needs a physical therapist, he never expected to find his Jonesie… aka Emilia Campbell.

It may have been many years since they have seen each other, but on first sight, their previous love for each other as best friends but now it shapes into a much bigger, sweeter journey of rediscovered love. Max has known all of Emilia’s history, and now he wants to see her future. After being dumped by her fiancé, she harbours many fears about men and relationships, but Max had a calming effect on pretty much everything.

What begins as a working relationship, quickly blurs into a story of heat, unbridled passion and love. Max , like the other Bennett men have no issues going after their women and claiming them with love, even the words are easy to say…. ⬅️ this always plays a great game of emotion for me. I love that Max can show his sweet side while being the shark in the boardroom of Bennett Enterprises.

This series continues to make me fall more in love with each Bennett family member, and as they fall one by one, it is apparent that this family is now in my top 3 book family loves, and match making is a contact sport the Bennett’s take very seriously. This one twin prankster, has met his match, will it be the same for his opposite. I can’t wait to start Christopher’s story…

Max Bennett and Emilia Campbell were friends many years ago. Then Emilia moved far away. Now things have changed a lot in both of their lives. The cross paths again and this time its Max that needs a friend and some help getting his life back.

It was cute and sweet but their relationship did not pull me in.

Narration was good.

I enjoy a good friends-to-lovers story and since Max and Emilia were friends from childhood, I was excited. I liked their story but we didn't get to spend as much time with the rest of the Bennett clan in this installment and I found I really missed that element.

Full review coming...

***

Your Inescapable Love gives us Max Bennett's story. Now I'm a sucker for the friends-to-lovers trope so when I realized Max and Emilia had been friends when they were kids, I was eager to see how this would come together.

Max is a rather determined bachelor, believing he doesn't have time for romance since he's so focused on work. He's an excellent negotiator and makes Bennett Enterprises lots of money. Lest you think he's all work and no play, know that he and his twin, Christopher, are the pranksters of the Bennett clan, doing things like switching places to get out of dinner duty to kissing girls.

Emilia was raised by her Grams after losing her mother and having her father bail. Now she works hard as a physical therapist as well as caring for her Grams, who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's. She is driven in her career and with the demands on her time caring for her Grams, romance isn't on her radar.

Then Max walks into her clinic. And lucky Emilia is his PT. They immediately begin cathing up, not having seen each other for years. They also have an immediate attraction, something they both try to ignore until they can't.

I liked how their romance blossomed - Emilia having some baggage but Max being baggage-free and more than willing to take on helping Emilia shed hers. Some of Emilia's baggage felt a little contrived though. And I felt like their story could have had more depth in some ways. They had history and more could have been done with it.

The Bennett clan wasn't around as much in this installment and I found I really missed them. he dynamics between all the siblings adds more dimension to the stories and while they were present, they didn't have prominent roles and... well, I just missed that. I'm guessing Christopher will be the next to fall and I'm eager to witness that.

Lidia Dornet and Sebastian York narrated and were fabulous. They brought Max and Emilia to life and kept the story flowing. Dornet even added a bit of action in some scenes which better conveyed the emotions of those scenes. York is simply ear-candy. ;)
