Oh, gawd, this book.
If you're looking for some answers after the first book in this series, Unspeakable Words, you're not going to find them here.
The mystery behind Flynn's sudden sixth sense ability? Nope.
More than one mention of the serial killer investigation that started this series? Nope.
Instead we get 240 pages on Jerry and Flynn's relationship. Which should be great, right? I did say in my review of the first book that I'd like see more relationship development in the sequel, and we did get some answers as to Flynn's sexuality and personal history, but as for the rest of it...ugh. The author uses about 214 of those pages to use my least favorite plot device ever, ever, fucking ever; constant lack of communication. 214 pages of:
"I want to tell you....You know what? Never mind." [No! Do NOT never mind!]
"This isn't the time to talk about this." [YES IT FUCKING IS.]
"Of course you would think that. I'm going to stomp away now." [Well, why don't you school him on what he should be thinking, you mopey bastard?]
Okay, the lack of communication does stem from personality conflicts--both of them are insecure in the relationship and neither are willing to talk about their feelings. I can usually accept, even appreciate, that type of miscommunication. It feels more natural than, "I saw you kissing that dude!" "No, no! He kissed me!" "Oh, alrighty then. We shall now get married and inherit a small child from a conveniently dead relative." And there is one extremely good reason these two think they should just naturally communicate--it has to do with Flynn's sixth sense ability. But there was no resolution to Flynn and Jerry's miscommunication. There's no big talk, or acknowledgement between them that just because one partner has mind powers it doesn't mean things (like communication) will magically work itself out. They still have to open their mouths and SPEAK. Instead a Major Worrisome Event (half a star for that though, it is interesting) happens to one of the MCs and the other one is suddenly super sweet and supportive. Which is still enjoyable, 'cause I eat that shit up. Bring the fluff, baby.
But you know what happens then? [You probably saw this coming.]
NOTHING. THAT'S IT. IT'S OVER. THE END.
If you haven't read the first book, or even if you have, I'd recommend waiting for the third book before starting on this one. As for me, my friends, I've been sucked in, I cannot take not knowing what the hell's going to happen with these guys. They may spend the entire book bitching at each other but I still like them. *grumble* BUT IF I HAVE TO WAIT FOUR MORE FUCKING YEARS...I'm not going to do a damn thing. I'm going to read it.

I just have to say up front... Dr. Madison? You know how it took 4 years to get out this sequel to Unspeakable Words? Well, if it takes 4 years for the next one I will be a very unhappy camper. But still, I'll read it, whenever it appears.
This is the second book in The Sixth Sense series, and the first one is necessary to understand this installment. This review will contain spoilers for the first book.
The story opens a full six months after the end of "Unspeakable Words." I was a little disappointed not to see more of how the guys worked out the early stages of their personal and professional relationship. I'd hoped to see Flynn dealing with the double changes to his life from both his telepathy and for the first time being in a relationship with a man. I wondered how they dealt with Jerry being out, and Flynn not, and the rules about working together. As we re-encounter the guys, they have gone past those initial stages, and are comfortable professionally, and actually in a dry-spell plateau in their personal relationship. But the story moves along quickly from there, so it was a momentary regret.
There is both more emotion and more action in this story than the last. We learn a lot more about Flynn, about his past, his friends and family, and even his body. We're even slightly more privy to Flynn's thoughts, although I'd love to have seen even more. The device used to gain many of those insights was a surprise, and I'm not sure it was fully plausible, but it created some nice interactions and revelations and I enjoyed the effect. The guys go through some difficult moments both between them and together. I was pulled along through the story to see how it would work out.
And then there was the climactic action, and yet another twist... This is not a cliffhanger book. The immediate events of the story are resolved, the bad guy for this segment is dealt with, the mystery plot point solved. But the twist which sets up the next book does leave a whole lot wide open. There is a sweet moment and yet... and yet... I'll be haunting the author's releases for the next book. If you enjoy mystery, paranormal, relationship complications, and have a tolerance for loose ends and mild plot quibbles, this series is well worth a look.

Walk a Mile is a sequel to a book released in 2010 entitled Unspeakable Words; you could say that it took 4-years in the making *laugh*. Just as a small recap for those who never read the first book, in Unspeakable Words , FBI Agent Jerry Lee Parker was reassigned to help another agent John Flynn, with a cold case called The Grimm Fairy Tale murder, when a magical artifact bestowed Flynn with power of telepathy. This sequel happens six months later…
Okay, let me start with what bothered me first … or the reason why I couldn’t give this higher than a 3.5-stars rating. Six months later, with Jerry and Flynn now partnered in both professionally and personally, I sensed that there were a LOT of issues basically in terms of communication between these men. I felt that their relationship was not exactly equal.
You see, Flynn, being a telepath, could easily pick up on what Jerry was thinking – the thoughts that Jerry couldn’t keep inside his ‘soundproof booth’ – but he never really shared what was important to Jerry. Not his personal feelings, not his family problems, not even things related to his job. Jerry was left to guess or to tip-toe around Flynn’s feelings.
However, before this part was even resolved, our agents were once again struck with a magical artifact that put Jerry and Flynn in each other’s shoes a.k.a.
Sure, this event made Jerry learn more about his partner – because now he could read Flynn’s mind, he could read what people thought about Flynn, including Flynn’s family and old friends. But to me, this felt like cheating… like it was taking an ‘easy’ plot to tackle the big issue of communication. I was never a huge fan of that. Because it didn’t really solve ANYTHING. Flynn still had this huge wall of privacy that he would not share with Jerry. The relationship was still not equal in my eyes. It just added another problem for both men. Especially since Flynn never saw his telepathic power as a gift, it was more of a curse to him.
I was also having a bit of a problem keeping track of who was whom . I guess it was a plot that works better for me visually (like in the ‘Freaky Friday’ movie) rather than in text. There were also few scenes that were just … weird for my taste.
Another thing that bothered me was that there wasn’t any progress of the initial case, the one that brought Jerry and Flynn together. In addition, Jerry and Flynn were supposed to focus on the magical artifact, but once again there was ‘another case’ that was introduced near the end, which threw away the focus of the magical artifact. It was a similar issue to the first book, where the serial killer case was thrown away because of the magical artifact. It was like these cases were never really solved!! As a murder-mystery fan, I was quite annoyed with it.
Having said that, the last chapter of this book just brought a HUGE TWIST that I didn’t see coming. Ms. Madison raised up the ante most definitely, and it left me reeling. REELING, I tell you!! I couldn’t believe she would do that to these men!! It was a game changer and what justified me with the extra 0.5 stars for my rating. One thing’s for sure, I truly hope that this doesn’t mean I have to wait for another 4 years to get the answer.

If not for the end(not bad but sad) i would have given maybe also 5 stars.
This book starts with the 2 lovers, FBI agents Jerry and Flynn, that are on a plane. There with the telepathy they stop a fake terrorist that had tried to take the plane. After that a lot of things happen and i liked this book, but not much the end. Flynn and Jerry go in a museum in DC bcs they think there they can find another artifact like the one that gave John Flynn the telepathy. At the museum works Flynn's ex girlfriend a woman that still likes him,and Jerry gets jealous, also if nothing happens and in the end we see her understanding that these 2 are together and is also happy(btw also John will get jealous when a woman touches Jerry too friendly). John and Jerry touch the artifact at the same time and they switch body. From that moment Jerry becomes telapathic and Flynn loses the power. Days pass and they search for a solution to fix this problem. One day Jerry decides to go see Flynn's mother and make peace with her, having Flynn aspect,the woman thinks is the real one, and they talk. Jerry actually wanted to help his lover and didnt do that to hurt him, but Flynn that doesnt see his mother since his sister was killed, gets angry and tells him that when they fix this body swith issue,they will not be together anymore. Actually reading the book in that moment i understood Flyyn.
I think that in all the book we see how John and Jerry are in love, but only in the end they tell each other they are in love.
The next days, they still search for a solution and at the same time decide to partecipate in Flyyn school's reunion(Flynn is 30 i think). Jerry, still in Flyyn's body, meets all his old classmates, but there is one that he really doesnt like. When he goes to the bathroom, he finds out he was right, bcs Paul tries to attack him and almost rape him, but Jerry punchs him in the face, and than goes back to the main room and tell Flynn they need to go and greets all. Paul hates gays and wanted to punish him, he understood that Flyyn and Jerry are a couple,(also if they are pissed at the other and dont talk much), and he tells Jerry(he thinks is Flynn) how he punished also the boys he coaches and Jerry can see the images, he actually raped some of them. Flyyn is furious and wants to kill Paul, but Jerry tells him they need go to report this.They go to the police, and while they run with the car, they scratch a van in the parking lot, and under the paint they see that the van had been white before. At that moment Flynn doesnt think much about it, but after remembers something about the day his sister was kidnapped, and he remembers the van, so they go back to the bar to check it. There he understands this is the real van. He asks his friend Rick (not sure, maybe i forgot the name), why he has painted the van this colour and tells him he knows is the same van as that day. Long talk..blabh blah... to kill the girl was Rick's father and the man found out only when his father was dying, so he decided to not tell anything, and tells them they dont have any proof anyway. Jerry and Flynn know this is right, but at the same time think is useless now to conitue on this hunting, nothing will bring his sister back, he is just "happy" to finally know what happened years ago.
While they are out in the parking lot, Paul attacks them, and Jerry now back in his real body (bcs they touched again the artifact...long story)gets hit. The book ends with Jerry in the hospital, weaking up after a coma, he slept for some days, and Flynn stayed with him. Jerry that prefers to be called Lee now, his middle name, doesnt remember who Flynn or he is. This is a bit sad but we see how after one day he is starting to remember and Flynn will be with him, as a couple, bcs he loves Lee.

OMG, what an epic sequel to Unspeakable Words, and the way the story ends, is, OMG again!!! I'm glad I re-read the first book before reading this part, because I would be lost in understanding this book. I have to admit, there is only one negative aspect to this story, a reader doesn't know what kind of emotions does John have for Jerry. It's frustrating, that even with telepathy, John doesn't talk to Jerry or rather little. How can a reader get a realistic picture about John and Jerry's relationship if they don't talk about it? We can even ask ourself, do they even have a relationship, or is the mystery around John telepathy the only thing, that keeps them together? Or is Jerry's only a one-sided affection for John that makes them working parters? Questions, questions...
Anyway, I wish the third part was already released! Gosh, I hope it wont take to long!!! Great work by the author!!

As I stated at the end of my review of book one in Sarah Madison's ‘The Sixth Sense’ series, I was really (desperately, actually) hoping for more of Jerry and John. Such complex, and fascinating men, and then with the introduction of John's telepathy after touching the artifact at the museum - well, fascinating grew into a whole lot more. And it's not just the characters that keep me turning the pages, the author weaves a delicious tale of mystery in amongst the struggles these two men have attempting to work together and have a relationship. Delicious, I tell you!
I can't begin to imagine being in a relationship with someone who can read my mind. It's a good thing that Jerry has created the "soundproof booth" in his head where he can block his thoughts from John. Let's face it, we all have random thoughts that run through our mind at any given time, and sometimes they're not nice, or politically correct, or polite. Those are the things Jerry has to hide from John - his frustrations over John never revealing what's going on in his own mind, and his fears about Jerry just being an experiment in homosexuality for John considering how close their minds became after John touched the artifact. It's been six months and John is still desperately trying to rid himself of this ability.

It has been a while since I read the first in the series but it didn't take long to remember what had happened. Now the boys are after another artifact in the hopes that the curse can be undone. Unfortunately something else happens - and the results are quite funny and entertaining but cause a rift between the two. I will have to read the third book in the series and see the resolution of this plot.

So Walk a Mile is the sequel to Unspeakable Words, and features two FBI agents trying to solve The Grimm Fairy Tale murder. This is a continuation from the first book, and there are other items that continue over as well, and then additional *new* threads written. During Unspeakable Words, FBI Agent Jerry Lee Parker is assigned a new partner, FBI Agent John Flynn and during their search Flynn touches an artifact that now gives him the “gift” of telepathy. Along the way of adjustments and trying to search for the killer and how to reverse the process, the two agents realize they share a mutual attraction to each other, and they both need each other to make it through these crazy outcomes that arose.
Six months later, Walk a Mile picks up and the two agents are living together still trying to find the killer AND to reverse the telepathy. I can see where other reviewers may have problems with this second book, as nothing from the first book is resolved. Nothing about The Grimm Fairy Tale murder, nothing about the ancient artifact, BUT none of that really mattered to me, because I saw it all as a long story arc. I actually preferred that things weren’t tidied up in this book with that, because I think Flynn and Jerry were on uncertain ground with their relationship. Literally in the last book in the last chapter, they are just really starting to acknowledge their feelings and maybe what the future holds. This novel glosses over a lot of the initial parts of their relationship, clearly six months, but it hit on so many of those relationship insecurities and how a lack of communication can kill what you have between you and your partner.
I actually really enjoyed the side mystery, where we meet Flynn’s old high school classmates, finally meet his mother, and the hope that the death of his sister, Rachel, can ultimately be solved. The people in Flynn’s past shaped him and we can finally see why he might be hard to get a read on, why it’s frustrating for Jerry at times, not only with trying to ‘soundproof’ his thoughts from Flynn’s telepathy, but also just trying to read Flynn’s body language and interpret moods and words.
The author also introduced a twist…
*SPOILERS*****SPOILERS*
At a museum where Flynn’s ex-girlfriend works, Flynn and Jerry come into contact with ANOTHER artifact that seems to be a companion to the first one. When the two grab for it, the power pulls a Freaking Friday on them and they switch bodies, and since Flynn’s body was telepathic, not only are they in different bodies, NOW Jerry is telepathic in Flynn’s body. It sounds confusing, I know. For the most part it really wasn’t, but I’m not sure the effect was used in the best way. Rather than have Jerry and Flynn actually discuss their fears and wants, the new switch allows Jerry to read Flynn’s mind now. But even that was frustrating because neither the reader, nor Jerry, really get anything from Flynn and the switch. Well…I shouldn’t say nothing. I think Jerry finally understood how awful telepathy was and how when he ‘soundproofed’ his thoughts it made Flynn feel completely shut out and scared, and angry. Also, it didn’t bother me, but there was some (IMO) weird attraction moments while they were switched and I couldn’t really figure out what the author was going for. Nothing bad, but I just didn’t…get it, I guess.

Then, there was the ending. That kind of ending usually annoys me, and yes, it’s been done before, but for whatever reason, I really enjoyed it this time. There’s something so damn endearing and awesome about these two men. They are sexy, but they have a lot of depth, and they are ultimately, at least in Flynn’s case, a mystery. Sequels with the same couple don’t always work for me, but there was enough tension between these two to keep me interested the entire time, and I am still very much looking forward to the future book!
Six months later, Walk a Mile picks up and the two agents are living together still trying to find the killer AND to reverse the telepathy. I can see where other reviewers may have problems with this second book, as nothing from the first book is resolved. Nothing about The Grimm Fairy Tale murder, nothing about the ancient artifact, BUT none of that really mattered to me, because I saw it all as a long story arc. I actually preferred that things weren’t tidied up in this book with that, because I think Flynn and Jerry were on uncertain ground with their relationship. Literally in the last book in the last chapter, they are just really starting to acknowledge their feelings and maybe what the future holds. This novel glosses over a lot of the initial parts of their relationship, clearly six months, but it hit on so many of those relationship insecurities and how a lack of communication can kill what you have between you and your partner.
I actually really enjoyed the side mystery, where we meet Flynn’s old high school classmates, finally meet his mother, and the hope that the death of his sister, Rachel, can ultimately be solved. The people in Flynn’s past shaped him and we can finally see why he might be hard to get a read on, why it’s frustrating for Jerry at times, not only with trying to ‘soundproof’ his thoughts from Flynn’s telepathy, but also just trying to read Flynn’s body language and interpret moods and words.
The author also introduced a twist…

At a museum where Flynn’s ex-girlfriend works, Flynn and Jerry come into contact with ANOTHER artifact that seems to be a companion to the first one. When the two grab for it, the power pulls a Freaking Friday on them and they switch bodies, and since Flynn’s body was telepathic, not only are they in different bodies, NOW Jerry is telepathic in Flynn’s body. It sounds confusing, I know. For the most part it really wasn’t, but I’m not sure the effect was used in the best way. Rather than have Jerry and Flynn actually discuss their fears and wants, the new switch allows Jerry to read Flynn’s mind now. But even that was frustrating because neither the reader, nor Jerry, really get anything from Flynn and the switch. Well…I shouldn’t say nothing. I think Jerry finally understood how awful telepathy was and how when he ‘soundproofed’ his thoughts it made Flynn feel completely shut out and scared, and angry. Also, it didn’t bother me, but there was some (IMO) weird attraction moments while they were switched and I couldn’t really figure out what the author was going for. Nothing bad, but I just didn’t…get it, I guess.

Then, there was the ending. That kind of ending usually annoys me, and yes, it’s been done before, but for whatever reason, I really enjoyed it this time. There’s something so damn endearing and awesome about these two men. They are sexy, but they have a lot of depth, and they are ultimately, at least in Flynn’s case, a mystery. Speechless, I am speechless. I know, I know I gush…..But as a reviewer you get to read many books, and you become menza mens at what you get to review; you follow me? When Sarah stepped up with Crying for The Moon, and The Boys of Summer, I sat back and said wowza ! So here I am reading book two of this wonderful new series called the Sixth Sense Series and I adore it.
My review for Unspeakable Words book one speaks for itself.(pardon the pun) I loved it, I loved the two heros, I loved the repartee, I loved the storyline, I loved the tempo, I loved it all.
We are talking Special Agent Jerry Parker, FBI, handsome, gay, with a memory like a sieve. Special Agent John Flynn is totally opposite, a profiler, great dresser, straight. Both are thrown together when Flynn arrives on the west coast and Jerry invites him to stay at his place to work a cold case together. Flynn picks up an artifact while at a local museum and is the recipient of otherworldly powers.
Walk A Mile continues a few weeks after Unspeakable Words, where Parker and Flynn are traveling to the east coast to Quantico. Jerry had hoped it would allow more time for the two to get in some more sexy time (oh didn’t I mention they are together together as well). It was perfect timing as they heard there was ‘another similar artifact’ in the area and it was worth looking at to see if it could help them with Flynn’s new found ‘powers’
Ms Madison has us getting sucked into this story right from take off and again as I said previously the repartee between these two have me laughing at their outrageous interplay. The new artifact has the potential to bring the men into a freaky turn of events and allows each man to see themselves from another view.
I love the fact that Ms Madison can solve an aspect of this story, but still leave us hanging. This is a tribute to her great writing ability. I admit it, I am addicted, I cannot wait to see the next calamity to hit the Parker and Flynn show.

This sequel describes the events going on after 6 months since Flynn & Jerry got together. I was peeved at that a bit, because we never get Flynn's POV and I wanted all the details of his transitioning from a straight guy to a relationship with Jerry. I didn't get the feeling he was in love or anything like that. After all, Flynn never talks about his feelings, and Jerry doesn't want to pressure him and goes along with it. And doesn't talk much, either.
Soo, when the heroes swap bodies (you heard that right, some more supernatural mojo), I was beyond myself! Now Jerry is the one with the telepathy and he can hear what Flynn thinks about him, f*cking finally!
Well, no such luck, because two words - Soundproof Booth.
Flynn was such a pro at soundproofing his thoughts that we get only an itsy-bitsy glimpse of them. *pouts*
Despite the major lack of communication, there's something so damn likable about these characters. I'm rooting for them so hard.

3.5 stars. As with the first book the "mystery" part was firmly in the backseat and only let out in order to move the story forward. The interactions between Jerry and Flynn and Jerry's internal monologues were the best parts. The story would have benefited from a bit more heat/graphic content between the two MCs.

Wow. Does taking three really tropey tropes and glue them together with a liberal application of phlebotinum make for a strong book or not? I still don't know. BUT - I enjoyed the book, so maybe it doesn't matter. It's original anyhow, so all is well (unless it turns out that the author really jumped the shark with the last trope - jury is still out on that one).
The ending is not strictly speaking a cliffhanger but I'm still rather glad that the next installment in the series is out and the fourth and last one is in the works because I'm still rather frustrated with the relationship between the guys. They'd better start using their actual mouths to talk soon, or else. Just saying.

This is where I declare an interest as Sarah and I are members of the same crit group. That means I read this chapter by chapter as she submitted it for crit and I read it again at the end before she submitted it to Dreamspinner for publication. I'm about to go and read it again. It is just *that good*.
Walk a Mile is a follow up to the first novel in the Sixth Sense series, Unspeakable Words, in which two FBI agents are partnered to hunt down a serial killer. So far, so FBI, right? Not quite. As well as charting Jerry Parker’s increasing attraction to John Flynn, Unspeakable Words takes the FBI partners/crime hunt/murder story that you might expect to read and gives it a jump to the left, and then a step to the righ-hi-hi-hi-hi-ight (sorry. Channelling my inner corset wearer there). FBI murder hunt takes a paranormal twist that is so deftly done that you just nod and accept it and read on, fascinated. Because when an artifact changes John Flynn’s life in ways he could never, ever have anticipated, the tale is gripping. The consequence is that he gains Jerry Parker, yes, but also an extraordinary ability Flynn would rather be without.
Walk a Mile comes six months later. You know how you’ve often looked at someone you know, maybe someone you love, and wondered what made them who they are now, just what it is that makes them tick? What wouldn’t you give to understand them! It might keep the doubts at bay. But be careful what you wish for. Jerry, the main PoV narrator, is a beguiling combination of confidence and a self assurance born out of the security his near-eidetic memory gives him, and doubt about his relationship with Flynn. Because seen through Jerry’s eyes, John Flynn—closed off and enigmatic, haunted and guilt-ridden—is also drop-dead gorgeous. Jerry’s unease about John’s behaviour and motives permeates this book, but it’s not a self-pity fest. Jerry’s too smart for that. But it does prompt him to take a step that puts a huge strain on their relationship, and only the murderous climax of the novel brings that some sort of resolution.
Interesting, believable main characters with flaws and faults and a real humanity about them. A cast of secondary characters whose personalities all leap off the page at you, even if they’re there only for a chapter or three. A mystery that goes beyond the relatively simple one of tracking down a serial killer, and ventures into the arcane as they try to understand the enigmatic artifacts. A love story, too, that is all the more powerful because it’s understated and its protagonists are a little inarticulate.
Oh shoot. This is turning out to be as long as the book. Just go and read it. You'll love it, too.

This book pissed me off. It was at times hard to follow.
Nothing was resolved. Jerry kept pissing me off by holding things in his "soundproof box" and then he did something completely unforgivable, in my eyes.
The ending threw me. I mean, are you serious right now?! UGH. If we have to wait 4 more years for the next one I'm not even sure I'll pick it up, to be honest. This one barely did anything for me, except make me mad.

I can't wait!!!! Loved the first book and was giving up on getting a second :)
This was a great follow up to 'Unspeakable Words'. It was great getting back into Jerry's head again! Why not the full 5 stars? We never really get to know John's feelings for Jerry. Even with the telepathy, you don't really learn much on how he feels for him.
And the ending!!!!! Whaaaaaaat? Four years (that's FOUR YEARS!!!) we waited for the second book and it ends on another 'open' ending.

The first book was a 4 star rating, but this one was barely a 3. Nothing in this story gets resolved, so I will not be investing in the next story.

3.5 stars round up.
It's been so long since I read the first book that I forgot almost everything that happened in it. This sequel book, however, I felt it's probably felt like the first one. It's felt unconventional, in terms of pacing, writing style and the way the plots moved.
Was it an interesting read? Yes. Was it an engaging read through out the whole book? No, some parts felt too long and could use some edits but it wasn't bad overall. The concept of body switching while leaving certain abilities behind was certainly interesting. Mind you, it was confusing to read sometimes but Ms. Madison certainly manage an intriguing dynamic with the situation.
If the first book was the introduction for the couple, this is essentially Flynn's book. We get learn a whole lot more about Flynn. We also learn that things haven't been as peachy between the MCs as they appeared to be in the beginning of the book. Some of which surprised and confused me since there was no indication about the issue. Or sometimes it was conflicting to what I read.
Regardless, I liked the writing of how Flynn and Jerry arguing or trying to work through their differences. They had the typical problem of how men do not communicate with their SO. Flynn in particular, was such a closed book with no attempt to let Jerry in at all. Things between them weren't improved until they switch bodies and learn the hardship of each other. In fact, it seems to be more of a ploy, a deus ex machina, to open Flynn up for the readers.
However, all the progress between them seems to be wiped clean with what happened in the last chapter. Especially when we only read from Jerry's POV. As I said, this author was rather unconventional with her plot choices and decisions.
So I am certainly invested in wanting the next book. Which, honestly, I don't know when that will happen considering. But Ms. Madison really open a can of worm with the ending she chose.

I didn't read Unspeakable Words, but I really felt like I didn't miss out on much as Walk a Mile made it clear as to what was missed. Having finished it though, I SO want to go and read the first book because I absolutely love the characters.
When I picked Walk a Mile up I thought it was just another M/M Romance with a paranormal twist thrown in. Boy I was wrong. This was so much more than that. The characters have so much depth and personality to them, it's like getting to know new friends. I mean, their relationship certainly wasn't perfect and had things to be worked on, but what relationship doesn't?
Everything about the book was so realistic and tangible (almost anyway). I felt like I was there in the conversations and feeling what the characters were feeling.
Flynn is a closed book emotionally. Jerry remembers everything. Things take a wicked turn when they finally track down an artifact that they are hoping the telepathy that Flynn got from an initial artifact which was stolen before the partners could figure out how to reverse it.
Excellent book. I can't wait to read the next in the series (there HAS to be another one.. there just does. I'll beg for it if it isn't already being planned)

This story gripped me almost from the very beginning. I found myself completely captivated by surprising twists and turns of events, and I admired the consistent implementation of a refreshingly new and unique ( at least to me) plot idea. If possible, both Jerry and Flynn grew even dearer to me over the course of the story. In the end, I was genuinely optimistic about their eventual happiness, no matter what, until—
well, until the story did an about-face yet again, only to stop short right away and leaving me hanging. Granted, not completely, but a suggestion of a new start for characters I’ve become deeply invested in, right at the end of a book I really, really liked makes me want to tear my hair out.
So consider yourself warned. If you hate that kind of thing as much as I do, wait for the sequel. However, if it’s as good as the first two books—of which I have little doubt—I can only recommend reading the whole thing back to back.

Jerry and John have been together for six months and the honeymoon stage is over. They are harder at work now for their increasing success rating in solving cases. They live together, they love together, they work together. Partners in both private and work lives.

I like the story, but I can't grasp the chemistry between those two. I mean, they have been in relationship for a year (or less than a year? I don't really remember) but they still have A LOT OF issues. They say that they love each other, but not really trusting each other with their secret? not cool!!
