‘Vargas has a hell of a shot to win this fight’ —Arum

Top Rank boss and Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum believes Jessie Vargas has a legitimate chance of pulling an upset when he defends his WBO world welterweight title against Manny Pacquiao on November 5 (November 6, PHL time) at Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.

According to Arum, stardom also awaits Vargas should he defeat the Filipino ring icon come fight night.

"He becomes not just a champion but a superstar [if he beats Pacquiao]," said Arum.

"He would be a superstar—there is no question about that if he were to beat Manny Pacquiao. He has a hell of a shot to do that."

Though Pacquiao hasn't won by knockout since 2009 and Vargas just had 10 knockouts in 27 wins, Arum predicts that the bout between the two pugilists would happen to end by stoppage.

"This fight I look at both guys trained for the fight and how explosive it’s going to be," said Arum. "I don’t know who is going to win, but I’m confident it will be by knockout. Jessie has a hell of a shot to win this fight." —KG, GMA News
