Nintendo had a notable presence at Paris Games Week in 2015

Right now forums on the web have various threads attempting to predict when Nintendo will unveil the NX, and one theory we've seen (which didn't make a whole lot of sense) was that Paris Games Week could be the time to showcase the system to the world. Well, that won't be happening, as Nintendo has confirmed that it's skipping this gathering, a major event in France that's running from 27th to 31st October.

JeuxVideo received the following statement from Nintendo:

Ever year, Nintendo looks for the best ways and opportunities to let fans try out its games. This year, Nintendo chose to skip the Paris Games Week, because it did not fit in the [company's] annual plans.

It's seems feasible that timing is indeed the issue here, as Nintendo continues to scale back on Wii U and think carefully about how much budget to spend on promoting the 3DS for the Holiday season. Nintendo did attend Paris Games Week in 2015, too, but like with the recent EGX event in the UK it wasn't deemed worth attending this time around.

Does this have any implications for potential NX reveal timings? Perhaps, as October does seem increasingly logical as a potential window for unveiling the system. That said, Nintendo may simply be cutting back on promotional and marketing budgets, regardless of the status of the next-gen unveiling.

Time will tell.

With thanks to Benson for the heads up.
