Sir,

We were pleased to see the comments by the authors concerning our work on the “Facial Trauma in the Trojan War.” As far as the suggested clarification of the fatal injuries of Imbrius and Ilioneus is concerned, although we acknowledge the authors’ comment and agree that the decapitations may not have been the cause of death, we would like to elucidate that

The initial strikes in the auricular area by Teucer and the periorbital region by Peneleos respectively, which represent the actual cause of death, are recorded as well. The purpose of our study was to record all facial and neck traumata mentioned in the Iliad and therefore decapitations were also recorded despite the fact that they were not the fatal injuries. We thank the authors for their comments, which prove that the writings of Homer continue to capture the interest of readers, specifically surgeons.
