Luke Evans, Rebecca Hall and Bella Heathcote are starring in Professor Marston & The Wonder Women, the story behind the creator of Wonder Woman and his unusual relationships that inspired the iconic super heroine.
Angela Robinson wrote the script and is directing the drama, which has begun production and whose worldwide rights have been just picked up by Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions.
According to the announcement, the logline is as follows:
In a superhero origin tale unlike any other, this is the true story of 1940s Harvard psychologist Dr. William Moulton Marston, the inventor of the lie detector and creator of the iconic Wonder Woman, who defends his feminist superhero against charges of ‘sexual perversity’ while at the same time maintaining a secret that could have destroyed him. Unknown to others, Marston’s inspiration for Wonder Woman was his wife Elizabeth Marston and their lover Olive Byrne, two empowered women in the field of psychology who defied convention, building a secret life together with Marston that rivaled the greatest of superhero disguises.
Amy Redford, Andrea Sperling and Terry Leonard are producing. Transparent creator Jill Soloway is executive producing as is the co-founder of Boxspring Entertainment Clare Munn.
Evans appears in Girl On The Train and recently wrapped production on Disney’s live-action adaptation of the animated classic, Beauty and the Beast. Hall was last seen in The BFG while Heathcote will be seen in Fifty Shades Darker.
