Antenova tackles GNSS with FR4 antenna

Antenova of Hatfield has introduced a miniature antenna for global navigation systems (GNSS) such as GPS.

Antenova Beltii GNSS antenna

Called Beltii (part SR4G013), it is 15.6 x 3.3 x 4.4mm and covers 1,559-1,609MHz.

“The antenna has been cleverly designed to work over a very small ground plane on a small PCB, where it can be placed in a corner position, and does not need any ground clearance,” said the firm.

Beltii works with all of the public satellite constellations: GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou and Gallileo.

It is intended for use in wearables, trackers, drones, navigation devices and sports devices.

Construction is with FR4, the PCB material, as are other antennas in the firm’s lamiiANT range.

Antenova Beltii radiation pattern 1557.42MHzThey are “manufactured from FR4 materials and use the latest in dielectric constant laminate substrates to construct smaller, more efficient antennas”, said the firm.

In the case of Beltii, “it beats the typical larger, ceramic patch antennas on all counts: it is smaller, more efficient, and performs better”, said Antenova CEO Colin Newman.

A guide to integrating the antenna is included in the data sheet, and the firm “offers the services of its engineering team to help customers and OEMs with antenna integration if required”.

There is a 71 x 31mm evaluation board (part SR4G013).

Not a lot of people know that

Apparently, Beltii, and all the other Antenova product names, are also types of ant.
